Not a Morris, Thomas, but you are on the correct continent!

Hmmm...........

Not quite as easy, perhaps, as I initially thought it might be? Another more generous slab?

So if we said:

Very small
Extremely compact
Surprisingly, with 4 wheels
Probably with a rear engine
Anomaly in the microcar world
400cc - minus 4
Oddly, made in one country but with a name more associated with another country
On the order of 28000 made.

Would we be getting close?

Gents, this is the trunk door in the front!

Not the passenger-side arm-rest on the inside door-panel?

Are you quite sure, Ronald?........................

It does seem a shame that so few people might, themselves, have 'likely culprits' to post hence (perhaps?)  a reluctance to guess correctly.

If that is, indeed, the 'problem' then I might have something else to post if anyone would like to actually name the Beast in question - and clearly at least two of you know exactly what it is - so we can subsequently move on to another challenge?

So, between the letter clues, and the Bond woman named Vesper, is this a Vespa 400?  I don't think I've ever seen one.

Stuny has anticipated my (same) guess... Italian design, but made in France (ACMA) ... largely unknown/unseen here in Italy... (*)

Didn't understand the allusion to Bond girls ... but one of my vague initial hipotesis was that it could have been a 3 wheel BOND... 😄

(*) A young Mr. Agnelli would have married a young Ms. Piaggio no much later...  they didn't want to cause family conflicts with the soon to be announced Fiat 500, and it wasn't even imported into Italy... 😎.. but the design of the first Bianchina was someway inspired by this car.

The "cabrio-limousine" roof was inspired by the german Maico/Champion 400 from 1951 - 1956.

Target market of the ACMA was France and Belgium, but even 1.700 cars were exported to the US. Who bought those and where did they drive? Any known US-survivors?

Google "Vespa 400 brochure" and you´ll find the nice brochures they made where the car looks much nicer and grown up than in reality.

Luigi, when you are in Pontedera at the Piaggio factory, visit the "Piaggio Museo Giovanni Alberto Agnelli" (named after their son who died too early from cancer). There is a VESPA 400 car in one corner.

Ronald... I was in Pontedera, for strictly professional reasons, at the times when young Alberto was still alive and active in the firm... 18-20 years ago... : what I remember well is that my contact (the VP of design) who was a typical funny/joking guy Tuscany-style , making a tour in the factory at a certain moment told me "now let's do a diversion to go to give a look at Mr. Agnelli secretary !"  she was worth, indeed...
