1958-1962 Morris Major.  Not enough detail to see whether a Series I or Series II and not a Morris Major Elite.

Yes.  My apologies for not looking in earlier, but it is a Morris Major, in this case a Series II rather than an Elite, but from this angle they both look the same anyway.

Jim, the Series I was shorter and didn't have the tail-fins.  Furthermore the Elite had a chrome wedge so to speak on the rear mudguards.

What about the French built version, the Fichier IIa 109 used instead of the more expensive Unimogs as French forest fire vehicles? Very appropriate at the moment as we have had very big fires locally over the last two days which we can see from my house. My brother's house, about 40km south, lost most of the gardens and various garden buildings, tennis court, much of the vineyard  and tractor sheds but they stopped the fire just before it reached the main house. Sadly a whole row of 1000 year old olive trees has been burnt.

Not a Fichier - I will post another slightly bigger crop. I will (in the end) probably be relying either of you two LR experts to fully identify the model. I thought I had a clear picture of the vehicle plate but its not as legible as I thought...I am however disappearing further and further down a rabbit hole of LR production codes!

Or perhaps the Perentie from Australia?

I think that might be right...I'll try to confirm.

Attached some further views. It's my friends "beach car" that we use in the Hamptons hence the non-military paint job (it also has a striped hood a la Jolly - but minus the fringing!)

I had a FFR Airportable Mk.2 with twin dynamos, 12V and 24V, I assume the latter for the radio transceivers. It had twin 12 gallon tanks under the front seats, an ideal location for driving over minefields. It had an ultra low compression engine, capable of running on 40-50 octane petrol. Originally it had a top speed of around 50 MPH but went a lot better after I machined about 6mm off the cylinder head to raise the CR.
