As this is clearly later than 1926 (looks like mid 1930s) I mean Mercedes-Benz. To me it has a slightly more sportive touch and is not German. Is it from France or UK? Something says Graber body would that be correct?
wlaidlaw Posted July 27, 2021 Share #15744 Posted July 27, 2021 The other car I can think of that has a very horizontal bonnet line, continuing into the main body is a Murphy bodied Duesenberg J or SJ. Wilson
Rona!d Posted July 27, 2021 Share #15745 Posted July 27, 2021 Wilson I also thought of Dusenberg but am not that familiar with all the coachbuilders. It looks like a prestige gentleman´s car. Hispano-Suiza, Bentley and even Rolls came to my mind (without checking all).

Good morning Rona!d, the direct answer is I don't know. Earlier photos of the car when it first arrived in this country had the bumper; going through my books I could not find the same make and model with any bumper. I was not uncommon, as vehicular traffic increased and parking by ear became the norm, for bumpers to be added to older cars.

Rona!d Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15750 Posted July 28, 2021 Rolls Royce Phantom II. Maybe an open tourer of Hooper. Ca. 1930-1933.
hektor Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15751 Posted July 28, 2021 Not a Rolls-Royce and the coachwork is not by Hooper. You are within a bull's roar of the year.

hektor Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15753 Posted July 28, 2021 Dear Wilson, not from Zwickau.
wlaidlaw Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15754 Posted July 28, 2021 Let's try something a bit more pedestrian but equally formal and "sit up and beg", a 1933 Humber Snipe 80 Cabriolet? I wondered if there were any cabriolets built on the even more formal Humber Pullman like my Grandfather had a number of, after the dreadful Hillman 20HP straight eight was disposed of but I think they were all saloons or limousines. Jim J Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15755 Posted July 28, 2021 Alvis Speed 20?
Rona!d Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15756 Posted July 28, 2021 Alvis sounds interesting and possible. I would throw in Bentley Open Tourer as the obvious (don´t nail me on the exact model and coachwork at this body does not look typical Bentley with the larger doors). But something says I should also offer Lagonda as maker, possibly M45/LG45.
hektor Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15757 Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Not a Humber, Alvis or Bentley. The body was/is not a "one-off". Quite a number of this design were fitted. I will see if another crop is possible. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Rona!d Posted July 28, 2021 Share #15760 Posted July 28, 2021 Without checking your 2nd crop I´m tempted to throw in INVICTA (12/100 or 14/120hp were the models in that era). Could also be a late A-type.
