VW XL1 Correct, Alain - Your turn. VW built this car as an extremely fuel-efficient vehicle in 2014, and i wish i could remember one of its features that the museum employee demonstrated for us. wlaidlaw Posted August 18, 2023 Share #20463 Posted August 18, 2023 I am amazed that folks actually bought this 2 cylinder diesel hybrid car, priced at the time (2016) €110,000 or $150,000, although if folks are actually buying them at anything near their advertised S/H prices ($100 to $150,000) they have depreciated very little. I would rather have a Mercedes EQS or Porsche Taycan BEV for that sort of money. Wilson

wlaidlaw Posted August 19, 2023 Share #20468 Posted August 19, 2023 I hope to get some car photos on Monday, when I go to collect my Morgan Three Wheeler from its winter storage. Sadly the era of free winter storage is ending as my brother has moved nearly all his classic cars from the industrial building in Cogolin, to a purpose built motor house in the UK, converted from the very extensive stables at his house in the New Forest, which was a royal hunting lodge at one time, hence all the stabling. The local council has bought the industrial building in Cogolin to be a service centre for all the municipal vehicles. Meantime open to anyone who wants to post. I expect there to be one or two Peugeot 202's on the one day charity classic car rally I am doing later this year. They seem to hiss like a snake as they go along. I assume intake noise. In which case I hope nobody would mind if I post a little bit of a (not-little) car in the interim just to keep things going? Just for a bit of fun and to try to disguise this thing is more difficult than to recognise the beauty! Welcome, dear visitor! NigelG Posted August 21, 2023 Share #20474 Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) We’re these taken near Waterloo? Looks like the conservation area (sorry I know it’s not “Name that London Street” but it looks very much like the houses there) There was a Citroen specialist under the arches Edited August 21, 2023 by NigelG

Hmmm...It all depends on what you mean by the words 'near' and 'Waterloo', Nigel; having just checked and measured it on a map the main British Rail terminus might be as far as 300 metres away!............ Very well spotted! I'm standing towards the western end of Roupell Street which is very much in the Waterloo district. Have a wee look at the snap posted below; Here I am in Brad Street which is the street at the rear of the Roupell Street residents' gardens/garages. I'm standing directly underneath the overhang of the east-bound platform of Waterloo East Station. The bit circled in lime-green at left of image is the roof-line of the Waterloo Main Terminus. At a guess - simply going by the 'house-count' - the owner of the SM's garage might be either the British Racing Green one nearest centre-screen or, possibly, the one just beyond; Welcome, dear visitor! NigelG Posted August 21, 2023 Share #20476 Posted August 21, 2023 Hi Pippy Just seen the other thread re your walk. The Citroen garage was under the arches in Brad Street I think and there was always a couple of Traction Avants (Black with “Primrose”? wheels) knocking about. All very Beiniex / Cinèma du Look… That Konditor + Cook was my first project 🤣. Will comment in the other thread!

All very Beiniex / Cinèma du Look… More Citroens! Interesting... Carrying-on the new theme of 'Name That London Street...and What I Found There!'... My first visits to Roupell Street were just a few days ago and although there were no Traction Avants around there were another two Citroens just one car to the 'east' of the SM on both days. Here is a snap taken during my first visit which was last Thursday; Welcome, dear visitor! a.j.z Posted August 21, 2023 Share #20478 Posted August 21, 2023 It appears that the XM was popular in this gold color. wlaidlaw Posted August 21, 2023 Share #20479 Posted August 21, 2023 Mercedes in this colour, especially from Golders Green.Finchley area, were known in the motor trade as being in Jewish Racing Gold. Wilson
ramarren Posted August 22, 2023 Share #20480 Posted August 22, 2023 I always wanted a Citroen DS ... They're not common in the USA, they sell for good money, and finding good service people for them is difficult here. The SM model was a dream ship for years, but way out of my price range. Sigh. It's lovely to see them photographed on the road. They're just as rare to see here as my Lancia Fulvia Coupé. G
