Rona!d Posted June 23, 2023 Share #20086  Posted June 23, 2023 Oh thanks, what a lovely color. My dad had an orange one like in the background. As a kid I joined him at visits at the master tuner of these NSUs "Spiess". His friends were racing them too. When dad sold his TT after the purchase of his new 2.6 ltr. Ford Capri I it crashed seriously in the hands of the new young unexperienced owner. Hasn´t survived a week in new hands. A shame. The red color is extremely good looking, thanks for sharing. 1

Ivan Goriup Posted June 24, 2023 Share #20095 Â Posted June 24, 2023 I don't think it's a Ferrari at all, rather a Maserati, and If you insist on more detail, I'd have to say it's a Merak. - early 80's. JZG
Rona!d Posted June 25, 2023 Share #20096  Posted June 25, 2023 Ivan if you insist this being a Merak, I´ll insist you posting the next car 😉 Wasn´t a difficult one but fun to see the guesses. Somehow these cars weren´t popular for a long time but times changed.  Welcome, dear visitor! Ivan Goriup Posted June 25, 2023 Share #20097  Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) Thank you, Ronald. Interesting photo of the Merak......did you use a tilt / shift lens to achieve the 'miniature / model' look or is this merely the result of shooting with the lens wide open. For the next 'mystery car' lallow me to try something a little different - please try to guess what car this hood belongs to. JZG Welcome, dear visitor! No, just quick action in Photoshop to highlight the car and get people unsharp. Should have sharpened the foreground but this is no art section here 😉 Additional info about the Merak for those who didn´t know. In the beginning Maserati had to use many Citroen SM parts to cut costs. Even the instruments/dashboard were from the SM when the car was LHD. For the RHD cars they used the Bora dashboards. The crazy highpressure hydraulic system of the SM was used for the SM disc brakes until around 1980 which made this "sportscar" brake somehow strange. Later under De Tomasos ownership they switched  back from Citroen parts to italian parts borrowed from different sources. Not sure which is better for todays owners, the Citroen parts are still mostly available, the club says.
