So maybe something similar but for asphalt or hotel tracks? Rona!d - I'll post a wider crop of this car in a few minutes, but in the meantime, I should tell you this car was featured in several Road & Track magazine articles, I think in the 1960s. Rona!d Posted April 16, 2023 Share #19523  Posted April 16, 2023 Very interesting, Stu. I really didn´t know this vehicle. That looks crazy. I hope you can give us some more background information from the museum where it is on display. There is even a modern replica I could share a video-link. The name is not used for the first time. Back around 1914 that was also a car "companies/model" name. Personally I like the "Hot Rod" version most.

stuny Posted April 16, 2023 Share #19526  Posted April 16, 2023 Not the Scamp - I had to look it up. Let's increase the crop, and I discovered that the Road & Track magazine articles on it began in 1957, and ran for quite some time afterwards.  Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted April 17, 2023 Share #19527  Posted April 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some more information, plus a bigger crop: This car started as a humorous Road & track Magazine article concocted by a cartoonist and a copywriter in 1957, with updates of its exploits of this unlikely, but hugely successful racing car in several different racing series many subsequent years, including an April Fools Day road test of this exact car, not some wannabe imitator.  Here's the broader crop, plus the earlier ones (the next one will be a full image, with the car's logo cloned out)  Welcome, dear visitor! No prizes for me because I had absolutely no idea what it was and certainly had never EVER heard of the thing before but it is the "Cyclops II Replica - 1957"; https://www.lanemotormuseum.org/collection/cars/item/cyclops-two-replica-1957/ Philip. stuny Posted April 18, 2023 Share #19532  Posted April 18, 2023 Good hint, Wilson, and nice detective work Philip. All - You might want to google cartoonish Stan Mott and the Cyclops II. the stories were a delight.
