Rona!d - I think it was a 34.  Sadly, the do not have any info posted on the cars in "The Vault."  Below is a lovely ALFA coupe which I could not identify.  I'll bet you know what it was.  See below:

Stu do you know the year made? Given the "bi-plane" bumbers design it should be a 1934 car (1st year).

They changed them in 1935 into a less fragile plain blade design.

Actually, a rather sad song:

Hair was short and skirts were long.
Kate Smith really sold a song.
I don't know just what went wrong
Those Were the Days

Michael -

These are the Lyrics I was referring to (with some additional line not used in the show):

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
songs that made the hit parade
Guys like me we had it made
Those were the days
Didn't need no welfare state
ev'rybody pulled his weight
gee our old LaSalle ran great
Those were the days
And you knew who you were then
girls were girls and men were men
Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again
People seemed to be content
fifty dollars paid the rent
freaks were in a circus tent
Those were the days
Take a little Sunday spin
go to watch the Dodgers win
Have yourself a dandy day
that cost you under a fin
Hair was short and skirts were long
Kate Smith really sold a song
I don't know just what went wrong
those were the days

Hi Stuart,

I am old enough to remember All In The Family as a first run show. And I only fairly recently realized how poignant the theme song is. I had a somewhat impecunious Uncle who had an old LaSalle that I think ran great. Those memories are less Shakespearian.

Best and warmest,

Michael

Looks like this one, a Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprint Touring (1952): https://www.zwischengas.com/de/news/Exquisites-Angebot-an-der-Dolder-Versteigerung-der-Oldtimer-Galerie-am-7-Juni-2014.html?gallery=on#gallery-4 or here https://www.classicdigest.com/de/cars/alfa-romeo/1900-c-sprint/151037

I think it is an Alfa Romeo of some sort. Originally I thought of the 2000 Berlina, which I had for a few months in 1972 but that had quad headlights. Maybe a Giulia Berlina 1300?

You guys are good and heading into the right direction. Maybe the second shot in color might be helpful to solve this riddle.

Gents, before I give the solution I have to explain that this was planned as the 1st of April joke of my little daughter who decided that we have to take this "car". It was with some days of delay as it wasn´t my turn on that exact day.

We will give 100 points to Lelmer who was closest as this vehicle is some sort of Alfa GT junior. And a true JUNIOR (for juniors) it is. This is an alfaesque merry-go-round vehicle we found in a collection.

It was really interesting to see serious car people NOT having checked the VERY close distance between the Alfa nose, the headlight and the fenders end (except a.j.z. who felt something is "special" here).

Sorry to those who possibly spent hours of searching their books and internet to determine the car.

For us it was fun. I hope my little daughter will not kill me tomorrow as I posted the solution while she was sleeping 😉

___

PS: To me this looks so well made that it possibly wasn´t in a merry-go-round but was made for free driving with an electric engine. I will ask the collector. (Some details hint to a merry-go-round, like the easy-entry, flat seat and especially the holding bow)

PPS: If I would be a true Alfisti and have some play money left, I´d make me a merry-go-round with all my Alfa favourites in miniature. From pre-war to the 1970s cars.

If there is another like sized headlight next to the one shown, then I believe this could be an Alfasud. Not one of the first ones though, as they had rectangular headlights. Later models had the twin round headlights.
