Would have been a competitor for Amilcar and Salmson in its day. They did not make their own engines like many other small makers of the time but used S.C.A.P. motors.

I don't think anyone is going to get this car so I will tell you it is a Bollack, Netter & Cie better known as a BNC. It had either a 900 or later an 1100 S.C.A.P. engine. The owner thought this car was either 1923 or 24 and was the 900cc version. Model name is a bit more difficult as apparently they made 23 different models in the first 18 months from 1923. It might be a type H. Usually their radiators were nickel plated or German silver, not painted. Their later cars became much more sophisticated and would have been competitors for the Bugatti 49/50 with a 5 litre Lycoming straight 8 engine. Like many small makes, they disappeared during 1930/31, in the aftermath of the great depression, which hit France very hard.

Anyone got anything to post. I have but it's probably too difficult. Another vanished make.

A Leica Forum member Emailed me some photos of a current but not so well know car. I'll ask him for some 1280 pixel images and also request permission to post them on his behalf for 'Name this car' … and I'll likely post a few clues

But if anyone else has something ready please go ahead.

Re dunk's post above:- I'm not much interested in cars these days but this one really appealed on nostalgic grounds and since I was giving my M8 a rare outing ---

I thought the only "car' made in the Baltic States was the Dartz, a giant armoured SUV, with the upholstery made from the skin of whale penises (yes really!). Gives new meaning to the phrase: "I feel a right p****k driving around in this."

It is as if they had designed the car and suddenly thought: "hang on we have not put enough Healey 3000 clues on the car". They got their jigsaw out and cut a hole in the front big enough for a Healey 3000 Mk.1 crinkly grille and then got an elephant to sit on the boot to squash it down. I know there are problems with getting kit cars through the IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) process in the UK, if you use non-E marked external lights but surely there were better sources than a Mk.1 BMW-Mini for the headlights and a Nissan Micra for the tail lights.

I hate to think of the end results of stuffing a Lexus V8 into a rusty old Mazda MX5 donor body frame would be. A friend of mine built a Lancia Stratos look alike from a kit with a 3 litre Alfa V6 engine. He admitted it did not handle or brake or steer very well and asked if I could drive it to give him some ideas, as he knew I used to sort folks' race car handling. I drove it about 1/2 mile down the road and got out, saying I would walk home and suggested he arrange a trailer to pick it up. I would imagine the V8 version of the Enigma would be similar.

Hektor?

Actually me. I got there before Hektor post #11035 but I was waiting for Mike's confirmation. It was originally a Healey Engima before a trade name dispute that forced them to change the name to Healy without the e. It was the same issue that killed off the HMC built reproduction of the 3000, that was good enough to gain Donald Healey's (with an e!) approval and was going to be called a Healey 3000 Mk.4. I think it was all linked into the Kjell Qvale financed Jensen Healey (otherwise known as the Lotus LV220/901 engine development test bed :) ).

Here is your next one. Marque, model and approx year please. I realised I had not deleted the phone number on the for sale sign. I would not put it past someone phoning up about "the car for sale" - tell me a bit more about it.
