Triumph Italia 2000. I had thought of this before but the only ones I have ever seen had wire wheels. There was an earlier car which used fairly much the same body but based on an MG TD chassis not the TR3A of the Italia 2000. Both bodies were designed by Michelotti for Bertone.

Well while we are waiting here is another puzzle car to be getting on with. This is by far the earliest example of this car I have seen, as evidenced by its lack of front brakes. I have removed the makers badges and the radiator cap will not help you as it is for the Berkshire Automobile Club (I assume Berkshire, UK) . Here is the whole car so you can't say you are not being given every chance. Unlike the unique UNIC, this example is absolutely typical of early versions of this marque.

It is likely to have been bought for competition use. It would have been in the "Cyclecar" class of the period, similar to the small engined Frazer Nash, MG and Salmson cars of the period. There is certainly evidence of some competition use of the car, from various brass plaques on it. One of this marque did win a Grand Prix in period, in probably a not dissimilar car to this but supercharged.

FYI, this photo is not a Triumph Italia. No Italias have front wing windows or round fuel filler doors. Rear window is also too b\ig, and dash is different. The italia was indeed designed by Michelotti, with the body and interior fabricated by Vignale rather than Bertone.

Indeed not a Triumph Italia as this is a Touring Superleggera body. See also Stuart's earlier post where he was pretty close. So a bit more for you

A competition version of the car once broke the saloon car lap record at Brands Hatch. This is a first production year example and as such has a different full model designation / name to those manufactured in subsequent years.

 

Can you please identify the marque and the initial year of manufacture full model name?

… from 1959 it was renamed Austin A40 Countryman as distinct from the original 1958 Austin A40 Farina.
