Gerd,

I suspect you are correct. Stoewer is one of those makes that has almost been erased from history, I suppose because its location in Stettin became part of Poland rather than the previous Prussia, and post war, was behind the iron curtain. All the machinery was removed to the Soviet Union. They were also a classic example in the 1920's and 30's of the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. If they had just stuck to a few models and developed them, rather than endlessly going off at tangents, albeit seemingly clever ones, they would have done better financially. They were nearly bought by Ford in the late 1930's but Ford managed to sneak a look at the real books and ran for cover.

Thank you it was an interesting search for the Stoewer. Now let's go on with a car I saw just 2 weekends ago but that is much older. Marque and type and if possible year.

Hector,

Correct it's an 8C2300 Le Mans though this actual car is given 1933 as its construction year

My familiarity with the 8c2300 is displayed in this shot I took (with a Leica of course) from the Louis Chiron car which is now in the Louwman Museum:

Hopefully this one may prove more difficult than folk think.

PS Edited it to blank the number plate or I know you lot would be busy googling it.

Here is a picture of the front. The engine has more in common with the Bugatti than the Talbot Lago. I have had to clone out the badges on the radiator. Good luck. I will be surprised if anyone gets this. In 50 years of playing with vintage cars and going round museums, this is the first of this model I had seen.
