Compare the photos.  Have a good look at the wheel and hubcap.  This is a B50

That looks a lot like a Bristol

Well done John, particular as Bristols were not imported in to the USA.

Both the 400 and the 401 had the same wheels, so as to be fair, here is the complete photo of the only Bristol 400 with coachwork by "Carrozzeria Pinin Farina".

Thanks, Hector. I was actually born and grew up in Europe, and my father was quite the 'carguy', who enjoyed some of the more sporty offerings that became available after WWII to those with connections, interest and a little money. He particularly liked the Bristol 400 series, since they were essentially highly refined BMWs built in England, and he had a great deal of favorable experience with BMW aero motors, dating back to his earlier days as a high-ranking officer in the Royal Yugoslav Air Force.

So, as the next puzzle car - in the immortal words heard at the start of each Monty Python's Flying Circus episode....................."and now, for something completely different".

Make, Model and approximate vintage, please.

Hector's is the correct answer, but Schimmerwagen sounds enough like Schwimmwagen to probably qualify as a correct answer as well - I'll leave it to you gents to sort out who posts the next one.

I understand over 15,000 of these were built, but only about 150 or so remain in operation worldwide. This is one of a small handful in the US, shot at the now sadly defunct Marin County Concours in California few years ago.

Thanks for playing.

Thanks Andreas, I knew it didn't look right. Never seen one in the metal. Built an Airfix plastic kit of one during my early seagoing career - couldn't remember the spelling.

Despite being at Prescott hill climb last weekend (in an official but non photographic capacity) I'm afraid I have nothing to post.

So hektor the next one is down to you Sir! :)
