stuny Posted March 7, 2018 Share #10803  Posted March 7, 2018 I should know this one, and am thinking of UK around 1960. Must give it some more thought.  I'm glad your snow and water supply issues are sorted.
willeica Posted March 7, 2018 Share #10804 Â Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) Dove ('e' with accent) GTR4 Hardtop based on Triumph TR4. Â William Edited March 7, 2018 by willeica
wlaidlaw Posted March 7, 2018 Share #10805  Posted March 7, 2018 William,  Not sure about the é at the end of the word. The Triumph dealer was called Doves of Wimbledon. I remember delivering a Lawrencetune/Laystall 2.2L engine (came out of a rolled and written off Morgan +4) to Doves in the late 1960's to install in one of their customer's GTR4A cars. Doves were only the marketing agents, the cars were actually designed and built by Harrington's of Hove, better known for their Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger fastback conversions. I personally prefer the to my eyes, prettier Swallow Doretti cars, done on TR2 mechanicals. Supposedly the contract builder, Tube Industries, stopped making them after pressure from Jaguar.  Your turn.  Wilson   Welcome, dear visitor! willeica Posted March 7, 2018 Share #10806  Posted March 7, 2018 From TR Drivers .com  "Now to get off on the right foot. The name of this particular TR variant has an accent over the 'e' so it is actually pronounced 'Dovey' but no one ever does. A bit like that posh French soap which fills the bathroom with lather at the drop of a hat or maybe even a drop of water!"  I will try to post something new tomorrow. I am going to a Classic Car Show here on Sunday and the theme will be Italian Cars. If I cannot get something tomorrow, I should have some nice ones by next Monday.  William
willeica Posted March 11, 2018 Share #10807  Posted March 11, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry about the delay. I did not attend the RIAC Classic Car Show yesterday because of other distractions such as the Westlicht Auction and the Ireland v Scotland rugby match. I did manage to get there today and there were a lot of nice cars and some very rare ones. We will start with this easy one as I just want to show the whole of the magnificent car behind this detail.  Welcome, dear visitor! willeica Posted March 12, 2018 Share #10817 Â Posted March 12, 2018 Perhaps the "birdcage," which I think is Tipo 61. Â No. The 'Birdcage' was later than this one. As a young fellow I used to be fascinated listening to commentary on the radio about races involving 'birdcages' and 'breadvans'. The mind boggled. Wilson was very close yesterday. It is a Maserati with an S in its title. I just need the correct number for it. Â William

stuny Posted March 13, 2018 Share #10820  Posted March 13, 2018 Will -  One of the reasons I kept trying was I wanted to see the full photo, and yes, it's most lovely.  Let's try this one, which I suspect will be easier:  Welcome, dear visitor!
