Mercedes W 196 Silver Arrow

Excellent! I thought that with this car the silhouette may be sufficient, and it was!

OK thanks for being patient and here is the next one. Bonus points if you can tell anything extra about this particular car.

It is a racing mini of some sort but maybe fitted with a different engine. I know a favourite was the Honda CRX VTEC engine. My wife had a 1996 Targa top two seat CRX VTEC Mugen R car (a Japanese market import), which produced a remarkable 175 BHP @ 8500 RPM from 1595cc and was 100% reliable for the 50,000+ miles she did in it.

Wilson,

A mini is right but not a racing one in the proper sense as for car races on a track. The engine is certainly worked on but still uses the standard block. So if no one comes up with an idea about the car I'll post the answer tomorrow.

Another picture to help you some of the decoration on the car may be a help.

Simon,

Project 64 it is, this mini of 1964 holds a world record land speed in its category at Bonneville with an average speed over 146 mph. Details can be seen in one of the following pictures. And they go for a new attempt in 2015 during speed week.

Over to you.

Here's one from me. Let down a bit by a poor original photo, but any guesses?

I would guess from about 1967-1969, when the coke bottle shape crossed over with the razor edge wings from an earlier era. However which of the USA's 4 groups made it I really have little idea plus of course, Studebaker was just about alive at that point. Those extreme razor edge wings are possibly more characteristic of Chrysler Group cars than the others.

Most likely a Lincoln, but since US car manufacturers have a long history of shamelessly doing badge engineering to produce nearly identical cars up and down their lines, it could also be Ford or Mercury.

Yes, it's a Ford Lincoln. Any idea of the model?
