woodyspedden Posted December 30, 2006 Share #82 Â Posted December 30, 2006 Boy it is really hard to get the images for the web to look like what I see on my calibrated monitor. I converted both from PSD to srgb for the web in Photoshop CS3. But the colors are somewhat muted when I view them on the web. Any suggestions about preparing images for the web? Â Thanks Woody Spedden

robsteve Posted December 30, 2006 Share #85 Â Posted December 30, 2006 Woody: Â I think your Bryce shot is still in Chrome Space, not SRGB. Â When in doubt about images, I will just drag them from the browser to Photoshop. If the image is not in my normal Photoshop colour space, I have Photoshop prompt to ask me what to do with it. In the case of your Bryce image it didn't, so it must be in the Chrome Space I use as default. The second image was in sRGB and Photoshop asked if I wanted to convert. Â Even the ones correctly converted to sRGB will typically look better in Photoshop. I just don't think the web browsers are optimized for that type of colour. In the hall of the manufactory in Solms is a note from Oskar Barnack on which he describe the filmformat. And now we have sensors and so on for only on thing: To create, to make, to jump of the screen !!!!
woodyspedden Posted December 31, 2006 Share #88  Posted December 31, 2006 Great images Woody, stunning colors! Although the second one seems to be shot with an M8...   My mistake. The Colorado skies at sunset image was indeed shot with the M8. For some dumb reason I had it in a folder with the DMR shots. Man I tell you that both of these cameras are just stunners. You'll have to pry them from my cold, dead hands  Sorry for any confusion  woody

Download that link for a PS action  thanks Guy  I downloaded the action you posted and it works really well in both CS2 and CS3 beta. Sure does make things happen quickly. Just for the heck of it here is the image again but for sure in srgb.  Thanks for the catch Woody Welcome, dear visitor! hamey Posted December 31, 2006 Share #94 Â Posted December 31, 2006 Just Awasome Woody. Â Rob. Â Cropfactor or Fullframe? Â Leica needs to get it's pricing in order first. Â If and when an R10 is built, what will be the cost, will it sell for less then a DMR. This is the dilemma that Leica could be facing, because if it does, there goes the DMR. So leica needs to offer a series price choice to it's customers. Â Will it opt for a cropframe sensor on the R10 for a given price....$$$$$$$$$ or the other option of the DMR mark 2 with a fullframe sensor so as to maintain it's value. Â It would be rediculous for Leica to produced an R10 fullframe whils't the DMR is still cropt and selling for the same price or at a higher price then the R10. Leica should consider reducing it's price of it's DMR now so as to get more of them on the market and MORE PEOPLE LIKE ME MIGHT consider it. Â I for one, not prepered to pay mega bucks for versatility even though I own both R8/9. Â Â What ever Leica does with the R10 it NEEDS to get it right (price wise). Â Cheers. It is not for sure that there will be an R 10. It's possible. 2. The cropfactor from the DMR is for me no issue; with the 19 mm. I have sufficent wide angle and I was in Solms to see also the 15 mm. but there is for me no need. 3. With the R 10 for with instance full frame there will be another price for the DMR. The DMR will be cheaper. Don't forget that the DMR was needed in the digital race and to save the R 9 ! I think that film never shall disappear so that the R 9 can be used both sides. 4. The price of the DMR is high but he is worth it. I own the DMR just one year with 6000 or more shots and I can see I earned it 4 times back including the G 4 laptop Mac. People love the images because they are almost film images. 5. If there comes an R 10 ( not within two years I guess) Leica has tme enough to think about the price of the R 10 and the DMR.  Greetings, Rob http://www.fotorobvantwoudt.nl
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 31, 2006 Share #96 Â Posted December 31, 2006 It's funny i WAS the FF king at one time , had to have it and after the DMR that NEED sort of went out the door. So like Rob the 19mm seems to be plenty. I sit here today with 2 M8's and a DMR and really if not for the 180 f2 I have it pretty well covered with the M8. i am in the mental debate about selling my DMR because i could go MF if i really wanted too. But to be honest all i really want is the same DMR with just some changes . Faster buffer, smaller and lighter and i would really like a 18mpx no AA filter CCD from Kodak basically the same thing just more MPX for when the need is there which is really not often because my clients have never complained about the DMR and if anything all i have recieved since i started delivering them files is acculades on the files. Hard to sell a proven race horse and really hard to part with files that are pretty much dead perfect out of the can. i really wish Leica would whispher in our ears on what is next so i can plan. Â Â Dear Guy, The 19 mm. is enough for me but the 15 mm. is a awesom lens. I worked with the 15 mm. in Solms with beautifull pictures but 5000 or 6000 euro is a lot of money. The DMR is heavy but strange enough he is very pretty to handle. Faster buffer is to be fixed in the new software ????? I am in love with Thea but also with the DMR. I own it a year and he payed back it for 4 or 5 times. People like the images because the seem to be film images. We consider to buy also an M 8. I played with it also in Solms and really, I love it. But I cannot agree more with your last sentence: Wisper in our ears........ R 10 ? 18 MP ? full frame ? Price ? When ? The new year will have lots of promises for all of us. Thank again for all your help, dear friend. I am very gratefull. Â Greetings from the Netherlands, Rob http://www.fotorobvantwoudt.nl
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 31, 2006 Share #98 Â Posted December 31, 2006 Rob I had the 15mm 2.8 and the 15 mm 3.5 and they sure are nice . The 15mm 2.8 is probably the best 15mm 2.8 made but i did not use it enough to justify the costs. Like Canon and leica i had pretty much every lens made for them at one time. Then you settle down to your favorites and on the DMR the 19mm is one of those lenses. Of course there are others as well. My 180mm F2 is just a special lens for me.i am one of those weird people that use it for formal portraits. It just sings to me
bnelson Posted December 31, 2006 Share #99 Â Posted December 31, 2006 Before I got my M8 I could not understand how Guy could sell most of his R9/DMR gear but I now I understand. Â I think they are both outstanding cameras but I love the size factor with the M8 and I can see me using it most of the time. Â I wonder what the total weight of a M8 package with a 21/2.8, 28/2.0, 35/1.4, 50/1.0 and 75/1.4 would be? What a travel kit! Â Bill
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 31, 2006 Share #100 Â Posted December 31, 2006 Bill when i sold the one DMR and a few lenses to get the M8 once again it was a leap of faith on my part and leica to produce a great M8. It was one of those oh shit i hope i am right. Turns out the M8 can produce, yes it has it's warts but man do i love this thing. BTW that maybe a total of 8lbs. I need to weigh my bag but my back sure as hell loves it. LOL Â Really they are both such great tools and obviously the DMR can do more overall but either way I don't believe a mistake can be made either way. from all the folks that followed me down the DMR path none of them were ever unhappy with the images and that says a lot for leica it really does. They may have had there hardware issues and such but at the end of the day it is all about image and the DMR just will not disapoint. The M8 is getting there, we just need to fine tune it
