I've wacked it on ebay for 99 cents but want to make sure I get something reasonable for it. How much do you think I should expect? Regards, Daniel. PS. marban Posted March 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2010 complete sets go for almost € 3k here in europe, $ 1k seems to be on the very low end
dicko101 Posted March 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 20, 2010 It is discontinued and very much sought after. I've seen bare-bones 5000s go for $AUD2000+
Steve Ash Posted March 20, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 20, 2010 I would guess you could sell at minimum for the original price. That would mean about 2500EUR. Regards Steve
antistatic Posted March 20, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 20, 2010 Wow, my 5000 ED has done better than my shares. Should have bought 100 of them
andalus Posted March 20, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have one too and it has worked flawlessly with Vuescan software. Like you, I am waiting on an M9, but from David Farkas. I rather think I am NOT going to sell my 5000 ED, though. They will get scarcer and therefore is it not like money in the bank, with interest? I am however not sure what to do. Hard assets may beat green pieces of paper!
Mab Posted March 21, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 21, 2010 Wow.. I wasn't aware of this. I bought one for a few hundreds a year ago.

SteveYork Posted March 23, 2010 Share #11 Posted March 23, 2010 I've been looking for a scanner, and was watching those that appeared on Ebay. Used Coolscan V goe for about $1000; used 5000 for about $2000; new 5000 for about $3000, as does a new 9000. That's all in US dollars. It makes a $500 Epson flatbed (even with its' limitations) appealing.
carbon_dragon Posted March 25, 2010 Share #12 Posted March 25, 2010 I notice there are still a few dedicated film scanners out there, but from people I've never heard of. Is there no new scanner out there that is good and reasonably priced (taking over from the Coolscan V)? At the time I bought my Coolscan V ED, it was just "the" scanner you bought for a reasonable price. Is there no successor?
