As reported here The Online Photographer: Bruce Fraser

Bruce Fraser has gone yesterday...

It's a loss for the photography world, particularly digital.

Bruce is the author of many excellent books and guides to digital imaging.

He contributed in Kodak's ProPhotoRGB colorspace and he's also founder of PixelGenius, with their great automation plugins for PS PhotoKit and PhotoKit Sharpener.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news indeed.

Bruce's "Real World" photography series nurtured many amateurs and professionals into and through the realities of digital post-processing. His thoughts on sharpening were revolutionary and influence my own workflow even now. Finally, has there ever been a more useful plug-in tool for amateurs than Photo-Kit El3?

A remarkable man, of remarkable intellect...he will be missed.

Thanks.

Allan

Very sad. Bruce's on-line description of how to build a calibrated profile for a digital camera in Camera RAW made my entry into raw shooting a snap, first with my R1 and then with the M8.

As digital photo technology and techniques move forward, I'm sure his ability to explain them clearly and highlight the key points will be sorely missed.

I'm glad we had him while we did...

I "met" Bruce on the old Compuserve Photo Forum years ago. Then, around 1993 or 1994, he made some (free) profiles for my my Fuji Pictrography 4000 printer to see whether we could get it to print neutral B&W because Bruce felt the problem to be challenging and wanted to learn from it as well as to help me. It's sad that he's gone...

Bruce's impact on my understanding of digital processing and sharpening in particular is tremendous and will always be there. I only knew him "in print" so to speak, but even there, his intelligence, wit, and sense of humor came through. I will miss him.
