Mat161 Posted December 16, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2006 Mark, Stunning shot !! I can't wait to get my M8 and you are another one enticing me to buy the Noctilux. I must stop looking at this forum, it's getting expensive ! Well done and thanks for posting. Jim
PhotoArchival Posted December 16, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2006 Welcome to the forum Mark! Good exposure! How many other shots did you take, or did that nasty storm in the background take your light away? Would have like to see the horizon a bit more level, and more of her legs. Keep em' comin! Guest smep_reloaded Posted December 16, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 16, 2006 Very nice. Framing could be improved.
JHAG Posted December 16, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) As said elsewhere on thos forum, Noct pics have a 3D and movement effect in them due to fast DOF which is unique. Agree with smerep : lovely shot, really, but why steal us from her lovely feet ? And yes, I understand, you hate that camera:rolleyes:
MarkM6 Posted December 16, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 16, 2006 boy i hate this camera! Good but what happened to her feet?
mwilliamsphotography Posted December 16, 2006 Share #9 Posted December 16, 2006 What feet? Who cares about feet? Showing feet would move us even further away from her charms ! Mark, you could crop that sky a bit and post a larger view : -) Seriously, nice shot. The Notilux isn't easy to use.
billh Posted December 17, 2006 Share #10 Posted December 17, 2006 What feet? Who cares about feet? Showing feet would move us even further away from her charms ! Mark, you could crop that sky a bit and post a larger view : -) Seriously, nice shot. The Notilux isn't easy to use. Agreed! A beautiful image, and unless you have a foot fetish, the other bits are more interesting. I find the Noctilux a lot easier to use on the M8 than with film - it is more versatile because on the M8 it looks quite sharp at f1.0, and that is not the case with film, so the film photo requires more thought and artistic design. robert_parker Posted December 17, 2006 Share #11 Posted December 17, 2006 I have to admit I might have prefferred some view of the feet myself but the overall composition and especially the rendering of the red fabric as it moves in the background is outstanding. azzo Posted December 17, 2006 Share #12 Posted December 17, 2006 This is a lovely and well captured image Mark but in my opinion, it needs some cropping to it..from the top till just above her hand, from the bottom till just underneath the scarf with no leg showing and slightly from the right, with no what looks like a shed, showing. Best Azzo
erl Posted December 17, 2006 Share #13 Posted December 17, 2006 Ahh! The wonderful M8 + Noct. combo. Both mine in Solms at the moment, so you are upsetting me (nostalgically) at present. Critically speaking, as previous poster indicated. Crop some off top and either up to the hand, as suggested, or show the feet. After all, she is a dancer! Feet are important to them. Otherwise, you are making her into a poser, which is not too bad anyway. Cheers, Erl
johnkuo Posted December 17, 2006 Share #14 Posted December 17, 2006 The unmistakeable look of the Noctilux at f/1.0 in daytime is really one of a kind. Very nicely done!
harmsr Posted December 18, 2006 Share #15 Posted December 18, 2006 Great light, action, color, DOF. A wonderful photo. I would try a slightly different crop as the others have mentioned, since her lower legs and feet were missed in the frame. Best, Ray
Guest adlerw Posted December 18, 2006 Share #16 Posted December 18, 2006 her lower legs and feet were missed in the frame. That's what happens when you take the main attractions right in the middle to have fun while focusing. Regards, W.
stuny Posted December 18, 2006 Share #17 Posted December 18, 2006 mark - I commented on this photo over the weekend but I don't see the comment now. Welcome BACK to the forum. This shot clearly shows your experience and training in motion pictures, which no doubt accounts for the drama of the shot (and perhaps the costume and styling). Excellent light, drama, subject, color and framing. It appears to be just sunlight without aid of a reflector.
