JHAG Posted December 16, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2006 I love it (not only the beauty herself, of course) Usually, with this kind of shot, you would have a blurred beautiful facde and pin sharp earring. This is not the case : everything is shimmering.
stuny Posted December 16, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2006 Mark - I'd be surprised if you didn't stir up the controversy you mention. I for one like the shot, finding the crop (in camera) exciting, and just suggestive enough of the subject's beauty to enhance that excitement. ALMOST the same goes for the focus choices. What I don't understand, and have not made my mind up about, yet, is the darker arc just above the eye. Is this an artifact of the Nocti? I assume the diagonal line near the bottom is. fastdap@mac.com Posted December 16, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted December 16, 2006 morning from los angeles, we might even see some rain today, yeah! anyway, no not a lens baby, but i'm flattered, thank you. the was shot, straight, with absolutely no tricks with an r9 with dmr and an 80mm summilux @ f1.4 i have been working hard at finding the limits of the sensor and it's ability to write under extreme circumstances, sort of like testing a film at the limit or driving a racecar at the limit to finds it's behavior. what i find facinating is how digital cameras write to the card/jpeg, not what one can do with the considerable power of cs2/cs3. sort of old school with new technology? like i have done throughout my life (test and re-test nearly every film available to finds it's character or limits) i am doing the same in an eleconic/digital fashion. as they say in the motion picture film business character is defined by conflict or adversity not when placid un-tested. this was shot in an entirely natural setting in a parking lot, at the beach, in santa monica, ca. the highly reflective beach/sand/ocean behind and the relection off a car window which has created the arc/area of flare/density infleuence. simply working with ones environment. this shot is the ad shot for a line of jewelry for which we shot adds and catalogue. mark
