I would be very interested to see those two shot inside also with some house details, the 10.5 stopped down to the default, I would be using it for spherical interiors mostly. :D

Bo,

Okay. Here we go. The first image is shot with the M9 and Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye at ISO=160 and f=22.

The second image is a crop of the first. By comparison you see that a fair fraction of the M9 pixels near the edges are wasted.

The next three shots are taken with the M9 and the Nikkor 16mm Fisheye, ISO=160, f=2.8, f=11, and f=22 in that order.

High-resolution versions can be found here: 2010-03-11 M9+Nikkor Fisheyes - winklers' Photos

Exposure is at the default value for the M9. I used PS CS4 to process the uncompressed DNG files.

I clicked on the "AUTO" function and set "Fill Light"=75.

In reality, I bracketed from -1.5 to +1.5 in steps of 0.5EV - but that is too much information to show here.

The last image has an exposure compensation of -1.5EV to show clearly the outside.

I also have these same shots taken with the D3 in .NEF format.

If you are interested in the raw files, please send me a PM.

In summary, I probably would prefer the 16mm over the the 10.5mm DX Fisheye.

Any feedback is welcome, as always.

With best regards, K-H.

NICE - thank you, now I actually like the 10.5mm but that is because I would shave the hood and shoot in portrait for virtual tours. you will notice the lighted ring around the image in the un-cropped 10.5mm image, that is the edge of the lens which I would be using for tours in order to get 180+ degrees FOV. The lens looks pretty good for that purpose, however you are entirely right that the 16mm beats it on the same fov with the hood on. Hmm, I may have to get one and try it.

Thank you for posting these.

Bo,

Thanks. Well, if you do please post an image of before and after shaving off the hood.

With best regards, K-H.
