robert_parker Posted February 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok, forgive my lack of skill and possible breaches of copyright.. S2, 70mm, ISO160, f2.5, 1/180s Shot snatched of a passerby, in a street near you... The jpeg for the forum can only show a rough image but (75Mb) original file shows great detail for f2.5 and nice colour and exposure. Welcome, dear visitor! wilfredo Posted February 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2010 The detail is is definitely there! A very nice clean image.
AlbertoDeRoma Posted February 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2010 Detail is right. I can tell that he smokes from his teeth and that a nose-hair clipper would be an appropriate gift for him. Oh, he also had Thai for lunch . Alberto
farnz Posted February 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2010 Robert, A very pleasant portrait where you've connected with the subject and produced a beautifully natural smile. I was also amazed at the level of detail in the S2's files and it even shows through in this tiny jpeg. What do you make of the out of focus areas in the background? Pete. robert_parker Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) Wilfredo, Alberto and Pete Thank you for your kind comments Pete - I'm not sure that I'd use the expression 'Bokeh', it'smore an orderly and controlled rendering of less and less focussed areas. The 70mm Summarit appears to easily allow for control of DoF and as an aside, the autofocus (used here) appeared precise and quick Of course this was just out in the street and I strongly suspect that in a studio environment, there's a whole extra story to tell Edited February 7, 2010 by robert_parker
SJP Posted February 7, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 7, 2010 S2 has smile detection I see, impressive sharpness & nice smooth bokeh, this looks very promising
Reds Posted February 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Fantastic detail and the subject really pops White balance looks a bit off on my monitor, slight magenta cast to it, esp. on the skin tones. Was this on auto?
robert_parker Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks SJP and Reds Reds - yes it was auto, although it's probable it's gone a bit red and contrasty in the conversion to the web
jc_braconi Posted February 7, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 7, 2010 On my monitor is really a beautiful picture in every points we can speak about a picture. will be the dream camera. [at least for me]
Reds Posted February 7, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 7, 2010 I'd love to see the full rez file - I bet it's amazing Is 75Meg the RAW out straight of the camera? Gonna need a faster PC / Bigger Disk when I win the lottery
c6gowin Posted February 7, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 7, 2010 Robert, I really enjoy this photo. The color, detail, bokeh, and overall feel are very pleasing and natural. Reds, I am sure the full rez file is amazing. I have shot a few hundred frames with the S2 and you gotta see the detail to believe it. It is addictive. earleygallery Posted February 7, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 7, 2010 Robert, as a portrait excellent. I see rather magenta skin tones, not unlike the first M9 samples, something to do with PP I assume. But great photo regardless. The fact that you have caught such a natural image speaks volumes. Did you buy it?
