blovitch Posted December 11, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Aperture now up to 1.5.2 but still no Leica DNG support. Although I think if / when this comes it will be an OS patch not an Aperture patch. Tim
Advertisement Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi blovitch, Take a look here Aperture Update. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2006 I have to say as a new Mac user this is just crazy on there part. The numbers of DNG users will increase in time and will be a large number of market share they will be missing out on. Just not very forward thinking on Apple's part
blovitch Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted December 11, 2006 Aperture is great. Camera support is shocking. Having said that I like to keep Aperture in my workflow. It will just get a whole load easier when they start to recognise Leica files. -Tim
jonoslack Posted December 11, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 11, 2006 What a pain I'm sure you're right Tim, the update will be in the next iteration of OS 10.4 - which may be coming before Christmas (or not). As far as DNG support is concerned Guy, Many converters only support DNG files for cameras which they support anyway (like aperture). I think that this is to do with camera specific demosaicing, and some say that Adobe have been less than completely straightforward about this. I'm no techie though, so I just read the comments! I've gone back to using Lightroom whilst waiting for Aperture to support the Leica files - that way there will be least disruption when it happens. I do think that this is the most troubling thing about Aperture. There are still many old cameras which aren't supported (the Kodak dSLR's for one). Lightroom seems to support pretty much everything - if Lightroom include versions and despotting then the advantages of Aperture are getting a bit thin. chrism Posted December 12, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 12, 2006 For Mac users who have Intel Macs, rumour has it that a beta of PS CS3 is about to be made available for folks who have a registered copy of CS2. This will be such a relief after the Rosetta slow-down! Chris
