Advertisement Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi rick123, Take a look here Favorite Lens for M8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thisaccountisdeleted Posted December 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2006 what is your favorite 2 lenses (in order)? the 35 summilux is my favorite. since my 50mm summilux is out being coded, next up would be the 90mm macro elmar. once the 50 is back, i imagine it'll knock the 90mm to tie my cv 12mm in third place. my 28mm summicron tends to be the odd man out. i'll probably end up selling it. Jamie Roberts Posted December 11, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2006 So far, the 35 Summilux and the 50 Lux, not surrprisingly. I also *love* the look of the new 28 Elmarit. It's a truly wonderful lens.

You might want to give that Summicron some time on the M8 before selling it. It does very well. Cheers, Sean
peterb Posted December 11, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 11, 2006 Even though I don't own an M8 I already have a favorite lens for it: The Noctilux (wide open). A 65mm (equiv) short tele with unbelievable bokeh. I can't wait to get one. P
xrogers Posted December 11, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 11, 2006 35 Summilux ASPH, it is gorgeous on the M8. 21 Elmarit ASPH, it is amazingly sharp right out to the corners (even wide open), and I haven't noted much falloff.
carstenw Posted December 11, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Peter, the Noctilux sometimes has really smooth bokeh, but other times the bokeh from it is really strained. It depends on what is in the background. Take a look at various shots in other threads, including the Yosemite thread. For bokeh, I am thinking of the older 50 Lux or the 75 Lux. marknorton Posted December 11, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2006 My vote would be for the 35/1.4 ASPH and the 24/2.8 ASPH.

MP3 Posted December 11, 2006 Share #10 Posted December 11, 2006 35 lux asph (classic and modern look at the same time), then 50 lux asph (outstanding sharpness and still very well balanced in tones and bokeh). Seeking a suitable wide angle right now, in the mid of cyna and filter issues... Cheers Matthew
Stevez4 Posted December 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted December 11, 2006 The pre ASPH 21 2.8 and ASPH 75 for reportage.
j. borger Posted December 11, 2006 Share #12 Posted December 11, 2006 Tough call ..Noctilux, 50 lux asph & 35 cron asph. What amazes me is that a lens like the 35 cron asph, which i did not like at all on the R-D1 and was on the point of selling several times, shows much more character on the R-D1 ..... Giulio Zanni Posted December 11, 2006 Share #13 Posted December 11, 2006 28 summicron all the way! Giulio
macusque Posted December 11, 2006 Share #14 Posted December 11, 2006 If I had to choose only 2 lens, I think they would be: 28/2 Summicron 50/1.4 Summilux asph If only 1 lens, 28/2 Summicron.
tom0511 Posted December 11, 2006 Share #15 Posted December 11, 2006 dont have the M8 yet but use rd1 and really like 28/2.0asph and 50/1.4 combo
arne_s Posted December 11, 2006 Share #16 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi everyone! I like the combo M8 with Summicron 35 ASPH and Summilux 75. If I use it only with one lens, I take mostly the Noctilux 50. Regards, Arne

Stevez4 Posted December 13, 2006 Share #18 Posted December 13, 2006 My favorite is the pre ASPH 21 2.8. Next is the 75 2.0.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 13, 2006 Share #19 Posted December 13, 2006 I'm SO confused.LOL I love them all and i am still going back and forth and back and forth. This is hard. i think it maybe easier to say some that just have to be in the bag . 50 lux, 75 cron,15CV,21,28 f2,35 lux okay than i really like the 90mm and i love the 24mm but i have to take the magnifier off and that is driving me crazy right now so i am going to sell it for now and get it later, nuts i know. This has been the hardest system to pick. I have gone crazy over the 21,24,28 combo for months on what to have. Easily solved buy them all

Here are some of the Noctilux shots, all shot at f1. Guy Mancuso hard at work. Jack Flesher working too. Guy Mancuso and Jack waiting for the sun to rise. This was 1/30th, f1, 1250iso.
