marknorton Posted December 13, 2006 Share #62 Â Posted December 13, 2006 To make a long story short, does this all mean that you can attach either a IR filter or a lens shade? Â Yes! The filter adaptor replaces the lens shade which can then not be used when the filter is in place. Nor can the lens cap. Â The scope of delivery with this lens is all wrong for use on an M8. If you assume that an IR filter is required at least most of the time, the lens comes with a hood and lens cap which you cannot use and without the filter carrier, filter, lens hood and lens cap which you need. Â That's why I proposed a different style of filter. For M8 use, that would be all you need extra. Â IMHO, Leica have to kill off some sacred cows: Â 1. "IR contamination applies only to particular shooting situations". Wrong, it applies to all shooting, to varying degrees, and there are few situations where you actually might want it, from what I can see. Â 2. "All M lenses can be used for film or digital". A worthy objective except where you hamper usability by sticking doggedly to this idea. The M8 has its own accessories, just as the MP/M7 do, there doesn't have to be 100% overlap. PHOTOEIL Posted December 13, 2006 Share #63 Â Posted December 13, 2006 To make a long story short, does this all mean that you can attach either a IR filter or a lens shade? Â 67 mmm filter size! Perfect for the filters AND lenshood as for the Hasselblad SW/C-Biogon 38 mm ( = +/- 20 mm in 24x36 format), we just have to find a series VIII IR filter (like I have a Leitz made UV one for the Telyt 280 mm). No, 67 mm is not that bad at all , for Contax/Zeiss 645 and Pentax that size was/is custom to. Â Philippe
