andybarton Posted December 10, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been having a bit of a sort out this afternoon and came across this favourite of mine. I am pretty sure I have posted it here before in colour (I can't find it now - maybe on the old forum), but here's a version I have been playing around with. Trying to get to Rolo's standard... This would have been with the M2/50 Summicron/Provia 100F (probably). It took several scans to get the colour version to my liking, and an hour in PS this afternoon on this one. I think that I might print this one
Advertisement Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Chesil Beach (Redux). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
macos Posted December 10, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Andy, I think this is a very impressing photograph, congratulations! I guess it needs (or better: deserves) a very big format for printing, but then it will be absolutely astonishing. BR
azzo Posted December 10, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2006 Go straight to your printer tomorrow Andy. A very nice and a well captured image indeed. Best Azzo

leicamann Posted December 11, 2006 Share #9 Posted December 11, 2006 Andy I remember this...and yes its good..but quite frankly you have improved alot since then..there are quite few I can state at the top of my head that would be worthy for printing Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann
wizard Posted December 11, 2006 Share #10 Posted December 11, 2006 Wonderful indeed! This one cries out to be printeed BIG. Was that shot taken close to the Abbotsbury Swannery, which I believe must be located right behind the hill with the building on its top. Cheers, Andy
kamilsukun Posted December 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted December 11, 2006 Andy, This is deep. In all senses. It is worth every minute you spent working on it. Thanks for sharing.
Rolo Posted December 11, 2006 Share #12 Posted December 11, 2006 Great capture Andy. A favourite spot. Here's one just like yours. In fact it is yours. Forgive me for reposting, but I thought a white border might make a difference.
azzo Posted December 11, 2006 Share #13 Posted December 11, 2006 IMHO, Rolo's interpretation loses a bit of the subtleness from Andy's original, and maybe also some detail in the highlights. Also there's a tone to it now, and to be honest, i'd rather have a true B&W. Best Azzo
andybarton Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted December 11, 2006 Thanks guys. I have found the colour one here. It must have been submitted to the old forum. Chesil Beach, Dorset
ddp Posted December 11, 2006 Share #15 Posted December 11, 2006 Andy, how close to the coast are you? I like Rolo's interpretation as well - but the original stands on it's own and it would be a fun image to print. I cannot remember the last time I actually worked in a darkroom....my oh my. andybarton Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share #16 Posted December 11, 2006 Well..., I can walk to the coast from my front door, but this stretch is at the other end of the country (about 280 miles away). Too far to go for the day, that's for sure Always a great place to visit though - we had our honeymoon there.
