M8, 90/2.8 tele-elmarit (fat) 1966

Love this one - almost like an oil painting, and the dynamics of the boys and the waves!!

I love it, too - definitely a conversation piece. If you know those kids, they'd get a kick out of seeing the photo ten years from now.

Phil, John many thanks for your kind remarks.

I was a bit on the fence with this lens for quite some time, despite occasional shots like this, but after a good CLA is has improved considerably especially in terms of flare & contrast. This picture was taken before the overhaul and even then the dynamic range is still considerable.

This one is from after the cleaning of the lens: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/nature-wildlife/116619-close-relative-lookout.html#post1237608

An old '38 Summar, complete with front cleaning marks.

Natural light around the 5.6 mark

Seems to be an OK lens for his type of shot.

After having read a lot about the rigid cron and seen some great photos, I had to get one. It arrived this morning and I went to a local bar with it on my M8c (a great excuse to celebrate:). Holy smokes... i might like this lens more than the lux. I still need to test it for bokeh but it is already showing some lovely lovely bokeh.

Focus is SPOT ON, dead sharp where it should be and its build quality makes me speechless..

Already noticed that the lens is prone to flare.. A lens hood is coming soon :)

PS: I did not use a UV/IR filter on it so his pants might have been black :D

Here are two from a 1966 TE 135/4 on an M8 hand-held. It was a heavy overcast day with a lot of haze, but the 100% crop still shows some details.

M8 CZJ Sonnar 2/50 prewar uncoated with Contax mount on M8 with noname M-adapter.

View on Luxembourg Grund

f4 1/500s ISO160

Additional info: automatic WB, A-program, UV/IR-cutfilter, sunshade.

Scratched frontlens, slight fogging.

Isn't this old uncoated Sonnar amazing? Look at the 200% crops of the centre and of the upper right corner of the DNG (only brightness adjusted, no contrast adjustment or sharpening yet).

The contrast is very good and there is hardly any CA.

Happy shooting!
