I have been following the IR concerns. Hope you don't mind me playing with your file.

Attached is a simple correction in PS, Problem seems overstated unless one expects perfection out of camera. My view is all files can benefit from PS.

Yes Marco it is .

Melvin that looks good . Myself i have been using the IR cut filters which pretty much takes out all the IR contamination but I do swing into a yellowish /green color cast which globally can be brought back. More waiting on C1 and Raw developer to bring us some new profiles to give us a little more out of the box settings.

Now with your corrections did you notice any other shift in another color

Actually, if you didn't know what the real colours were, a fix like that would work. Robs jacket was blue. Here is a shot I made with the 24mm with a UV_IR filter. It was done at 1/20th of a second so it might not be perfectly sharp.

In PS choose... Selective Color

Magentas.... slider -65 yellow +11 Black +2

Reds..... -3

Removes most of the IR problem in the image I corrected. It doesn't end there as the balance of the image needs help... the tablecloth is hot... faces are hot...

In the following steps I am attempting to increase the Dynamic Range of the image + balance the image.

My next step is to create a new layer.

Menu Bar drop menu. Duplicate Layer.

You now have two images in your Layers Pallette.

In Curves darken the new layer in so that everything in the image seem too dark except the overexposed areas. My input # was 159 Output 100 (in the curves menu)

Go to layers: in the Tool bar... drop menu to Layer Mask which reveals "Hide ALL" click

The image reverts to the original in overall balance. Now the fun.

Go to the Brush tool in your tool palatte 4th down rt. side. Make sure the White/ Black boxes in your tool bar is white over black.

Paint to taste... the tablecloth will darken and is controlable by the percentage of the "Opacity" notation in the layers palette box.

Please forgive my simplicity in steps tor those who are well versed in PS.

I do not believe there will ever be an out of the box perfect camera. Great images are created by the palette and vision of the photographerr. I realize there are photographers who need consistancy out of the camera and it is impractacle to go through the above steps. Although one can create an action to do the above steps.

Mataphor: Many moons ago when Camera Raw was being introduced ... Adobe invited a group of photographers to check it out. Someone remarked " You can make it look like Velvia. I must have made a face and was asked "Don't you like Velvia.

I remarked "Velvia is fine, but I'm more interested in "Melvia"

Best

hell, now even B graders like me are getting into the act

Color Mechanic plugin applied as indicated 80%, but it changes everything

the targets were the left breast pocket, and left arm where the stripes go (if you had any : D)

Guy, i notice too that the guy with the beane hat on and the check shirt seated behind you shows colour shift too, and his jeans dont look right either, compare with 5D shot[EDIT: as rob points out the M8 shot of Guy alone]

there is also a blue cast on the left of the tablecloth but thats probably just daylight creeping in

color mechanic changes all the magenta to the blue selected, there seems to be some loss of colour to the skin tone too PP

so i corrected that here, along with some of the cast on the table, reds are a lacking bite now

i think this demonstrates that the shifts are somewhat linear, and while you cant get color mechanic to automate this process

some play on the channels might be more succesful at that...

What 5D shot? They are all M8 shots.

You were seeing the cyan corners of the 24mm with the UV-IR filter fitted.

Truly one of the most interesting and downright informative threads -- whatever you were looking to find out about the M8 -- I've seen on any forum in a long time. thank you for taking us on this ride and for being so straightforward in the information you shared. And going back over it again, just a lot of great images.
