pat308 Posted December 12, 2006 Share #285 Â Posted December 12, 2006 Doesn't matter what the lens or the camera for that shot was ... it's gorgeous Jack. Â You are right it doesn't ** really ** matter. But it is kinda intriguing. Like a great food dish, you kinda wonder what ingredients were used, which recipe was followed, was their a secret ingredient. Â I don't really care which camera, but which lens is really intriguing. Jack_Flesher Posted December 12, 2006 Share #287  Posted December 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks guys -- it is one of my better shots  You are right it doesn't ** really ** matter. But it is kinda intriguing. Like a great food dish, you kinda wonder what ingredients were used, which recipe was followed, was their a secret ingredient.  I don't really care which camera, but which lens is really intriguing.  Okay, let's have some fun. Here's a teaser clue, but understand I cheated: The lens I used for that image was a 150mm -- Nikkor... LOLOL!  Cheers,  Jack

cbretteville Posted December 12, 2006 Share #293 Â Posted December 12, 2006 Thanks for sharing your trip with with us guys. This has been a fun read and the shots helps build up confidence in the M8. A lot more than the rather embarassing "performance proofs" posted on Leica's M8 pages. Â - Carl
pklein Posted December 12, 2006 Share #294 Â Posted December 12, 2006 Guy, Jack, Rob: A major round of applause and thank-you for taking us along on your trip! I hope the burden of all of us (plus the ghost of Ansel Adams) dogging your every footstep wasn't *too* huge a responsibility. :-) Â --Peter
carstenw Posted December 12, 2006 Share #295 Â Posted December 12, 2006 Doesn't matter what the lens or the camera for that shot was ... it's gorgeous Jack. Â Aw c'mon Kurt, get into it. Let me show you: Â If that shot was taken with a 5D, then the colours are a bit flat, and it is too soft and over-sharpened at the same time. It has no magic, and the bokeh is ugly, unless a Leica lens was used. Your mama is ugly. Â If, however, it was taken with the M8, then the colours are gorgeous, the sharpness is astounding with no sharpening done, the bokeh is amazing, and it has a real je-ne-sais-quoi to it, magic! Your mother is very charming and I can hardly believe her age. Â If it was a DMR, then everything is as with the M8, but slightly less so. Â However, if it was taken with an MF camera and a digital back, then this picture alone is proof as to why these cameras still exist, as you could never have gotten such subtle gradations with even an 1Ds2. But I have to say this: my M8 could have done that. Â Other brands need not apply to having taken this picture.
Rolo Posted December 12, 2006 Share #296 Â Posted December 12, 2006 The landmark image from the trip Jack (so far). Â Hope that frost is 'real'. Â A pleasure to view it.
