Guest magyarman Posted December 11, 2006 Share #243  Posted December 11, 2006 Blasko--it's been shown already, in all kinds of places on the Internet. You won't find it in this thread, ok? It's a fun thread. People here get tired of the Canon / Leica stuff--even those of us who use both. Go read Sean Reid's review / comparison of the 5d / M8; they will help you understand why folks react to you the way they do. Regardless of your intent, it seems like you are trying to start a fight.  I don't try to start a fight. Sorry my terrible Englisch bat I am not blind or stupid about fotos like Mancuso try to say like. He is one who try to start fight, this what I think.  Also sorry, I do not try to offence, bat I don't need to pay someone tell me what I suppose to know about fotos and cameras, I many years do this fotografie as profession, I can to see very good myself when is one camera better then other and when is not. thpeters Posted December 11, 2006 Share #244  Posted December 11, 2006 Ok, you have your saying now and have said it over and over again, stay with the Canon 5D and please dont borther us any more.  Theo   I am fine to spend money, I have 1DS-MKII which costed more then M8. Bat I got with that money something which I can see why my money has gone. Spend double just to show I can spend and I have got a Leica about my neck, this to me is what means to waste money not to spend him, sorry.
canlogic Posted December 11, 2006 Share #245 Â Posted December 11, 2006 There is no way that you can tell which photos would be better from these images. The only way is to go to a dealer take a memory card and shoot a few raw images then compare them to your own camera. I have both the 5D and M8 and in most the M8's are better. ddp Posted December 11, 2006 Share #246 Â Posted December 11, 2006 Blasko, many of us on this site are using two or more systems by different manufacturers and are well versed in the positive / negative attributes of said systems. Guy would be the first one to tell you that. He has the credibility to make some of the statements and comparisons he does - and there are numerous others here that do as well. We are not a bunch of Leica obsessed lemmings looking to take a drink off the cliff - we are merely looking at the best way to achieve the best images we can out of the equipment we own, or are looking to purchase. Simply said.

Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 11, 2006 Share #248  Posted December 11, 2006 Look I came from canon digital and had every camera they own including the 5D these are completely different beasts than the 5d and i frankly am sick of the damn comparisions. Spend the money and buy both and figure it out for yourself. I did with the DMR no one was around to tell me anything i was one of the first kids on the block and after testing it I found i liked the DMR much better and sold ALL my canon gear. beside who the heck are we to tell you what to buy, if you can't figure it out than we certainly can't help either. Frankly I am sick of discussing it , it makes no sense to me at all there two different breeds of camera. Like asking what car you should drive. Get what you like. Do the research and actually spend time figuring what is the best solution for YOU and let's remember what forum you on. last time i looked it did say Leica forums   Sorry if that sound frustrating and it is really . Just a circle that never stops an people ask these questions without eveen going out and trying the differnt models or research if this style works for them. The M8 certainly can NOT do it all. I only say these fotos do not show M8 is better. I wait now M8, it does not come before one monath, so now I have time to think myself, do I take ora mabe not. This why I very interest myself in fotos. Until now I do not see evident each one 5D ora M8 is better, only I hear mean talk against Canon from people who is spended already money for M8. I have many years M6, many lens for him also. I am not Canoniste who stay envious guy to Leica. I see just lot of talk M8 is better bat nothing fotos proove. Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 11, 2006 Share #254 Â Posted December 11, 2006 Blasko i can only reference the DMR and the M8 at this point but secretly under the quiet of the night, the M8 is really something special over the DMR. It is small, light and i am getting files equal too or better than the DMR. I think that says a lot for a RF camera. Don't get me wrong it will not replace my DMR which i find a stellar camera and truly can do it all in most cases the M8 is really a winner and when we have some better profiles for Raw processing and the repairs are behind us this is going to be a special camera on the market. i bought a second one because I believe it can do a lot for me. Honestly i don't like throwing money around on something that i don't think will get the job done.
bsmith Posted December 11, 2006 Share #255 Â Posted December 11, 2006 Guy,Now that you have worked with the 50 Lux side-by-side this week, with the 50 Noctilux, what are your thoughts? I would like to try the Noctilux, but it would probably mean selling the Lux. Â Cindy, Â I would recommend the Noct, it has a very unique look that the Lux cannot achieve. You should try a Noctilux before dismissing it. Unless your work requires a 66mm 1.4, fast focusing lens, I would say buy the 35 lux (46mm) for fast focus general use and a Noct for the special qualities that no other lens can produce. Before the 1.33 mag factor, how many people were in need of a 66mm 1.4 ? Don't just think of the Noct as your standard 50mm. If that's the focal length you need, get the 35 lux. I like it better than the Lux even at 1.4 or 2.0, photography isn't just about the sharpest image, we're artist, not scientists. Google Noctilux Images, there are about 1000 to view, this will give you a good feeling for what the lens can do.

Peter41951 Posted December 11, 2006 Share #257 Â Posted December 11, 2006 Yes, please! Â I've enjoyed all of your photographs, but particularly the monochrome shots of agricultural heritage (or junk depending on your POV!). Is this an early combine harvester? Do I see JD, John Deere? Â There's something heartening about shots of retired machinery which I like enormously.
cmb_ Posted December 11, 2006 Share #258 Â Posted December 11, 2006 Jack, Guy, Robert, and company, Â I thoroughly enjoyed the Yosemite trip thread this past weekend. It was such a great pleasure to check in each day to see the latest images posted and hear about your experiences handling the different gear as well as the various culinary delights! Thanks for taking the time each day to post your observations. It is always an inspiration to see people that are thoughtful, caring, and passionate about the work they do. For me, this was the most important message of this thread no matter what equipment was used. Â Many thanks and keep the images coming.
