menos I M6 Posted January 12, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am very new to rangefinder shooting and the communities of RFF and LUF. I have heard about Al a few times and was unrested, to learn about his illness over at RFF. Reading this thread here really saddened me and I wish the best to his family and friends. roguewave Posted January 12, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 12, 2010 I'd see Al from time to time in Sunny Isles & in the Rascal House. His work appeared less & less in the Miami Herald in later years. In some fashion, he had an iconic presence that persisted in the community well beyond anyone's notice. He carved himself a unique place, just being himself. Last time I saw him I had my M2 & 35 lux- pre-asph dangling from my neck. I was taking my now deceased father & step mom out to brunch at the Rascal House. In typical fashion, Al showered me with compliments about my gear & how wonderful & intelligent I must be. His show brought glowing smiles to my family & me. He had a vaudevillian persona & presence, much like my Dad. Although he could be really difficult, obstinate & obnoxious, he had an equally gracious, loving and caring side. He remains a true marker in my mind, of the dying middle class culture that once was the patina of South Florida. He will be missed.
MPerson Posted November 10, 2010 Share #24 Posted November 10, 2010 Today would have been Al's 68th birthday. Still sorely missed. Welcome, dear visitor! k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 10, 2010 Author Share #25 Posted November 10, 2010 >> Andy Thank you VERY much for this. There are still people around who are missing his straightforwardness in everything silver and LEICA. Here are two (poor resolution) photos from the times, when he still was in action ...
