AlbertoDeRoma Posted June 18, 2010 Share #221 Posted June 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) here we go. This is great. It would have been a good photo just with the children, but the elderly couple creates a great juxtaposition. Decisive moment indeed! Alberto

andybarton Posted August 21, 2010 Share #227 Posted August 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very "decisive moment". That is a superb shot that is crying out for a crop to remove the person on the right hand side of the frame. IMHO.

Ivan Muller Posted April 15, 2011 Share #233 Posted April 15, 2011 [is there some tangible advantage (emphasis on tangible) to shooting directly in B&W? Did I waste money on Silver Efex?] Quote: No you did not waste your money!! Personally I don't believe there are any rules in photography. Anyone who says otherwise is just expressing his personal opinion and preference. Whatever rules you set up for yourself is fine, stick to it, but don't expect anyone else to to it, or make it a 'rule'... If Ansel Adams was alive I am 200% sure he will shoot in colour and process afterwards to B&W and use silver efex..... In fact he would probably shoot a lot of colour because we have so much more control of it now. The reason he shot B&W was for the control. He used the zone system, filters, different developer combinations, pre-exposure etc etc, all to have control. That control comes easy now with digital. The final print is all that counts, you can use the worst lens and camera combination (Duane Michaels) film, digital, polaroid whatever, if it works for you, its ok! alun Posted April 15, 2011 Share #238 Posted April 15, 2011 Amazingly, this is the first time I have looked at this thread. I love the way it degenerates into argument in the middle and gradually but surely rights itself and returns to the issue at hand -- pictures. It's a great thread -- and a difficult choice. Well, here's mine. And a second choice too, if that is allowed... Thanks for looking. Welcome, dear visitor!
