Another sodium-lit effort, but somewhat more recent than 'Temple of Steam'. Taken during the Centenary celebrations of the 3'-gauge Manx Electric Railway in 1993, one of the original 1893 interurbans waiting to run the last service of the day, well after dark on a rainy evening, from Derby Castle in Douglas to Laxey.

R6.2, Summicron-R 35mm at f2, exposure not known but probably ~ 1/15. Kodak 100ASA E6 film (Panther?)

That's a strong image which for me is made by the foreground - I'm not sure if the photo is a crop, as there seems to be some barrel distortion in evidence and I personally wouldn't have minded a little more room over the lamp to balance the proportions but a fine atmospheric photograph nevertheless, with outstanding colour and detail.

It's pretty well the whole frame. I don't think that the Summicron suffered from distortion either - the curve in the roof of the tram is 'swayback' - the sag that is quite common in wooden-bodied vehicles after a century of hard work, and the pole supporting the overhead was only approximately vertical.
