GMB Posted December 1, 2009 Share #1 Â Posted December 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am currently using an Epson R2400, and while I am generally happy with the results, I am thinking of upgrading. Main reason is that I want to print bigger than A3+ and I am also annoyed by the costs of the change from matte to photo black. Â I wonder what printers others are using and what experience they have. This also includes some of the larger printers, such as the new Epson 7900 etc. Â Thanks in advance. Advertisement Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi GMB, Take a look here Printer -- what printer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted December 2, 2009 Share #2 Â Posted December 2, 2009 Depends on approach you want to take. For instance, you could keep 2 printers and dedicate one to matte, one to glossy. If not, better to get a printer like the 3800 (now 3880), which has 9 cartridges for easier, and less expensive switching. Â You'll find lots of info with a quick search on the forums. Here's an old thread that came back alive recently, including some posts of my own...http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/45186-b-w-inkjet-printing.html Here, for example, you'll note some differences and pros/cons between the 4880 and 3800. B&W Posted December 2, 2009 Share #3  Posted December 2, 2009 I went from 2400 to 3800 and don’t regret at all  The same result but cheaper in use due to ink cost
haroldp Posted December 8, 2009 Share #4 Â Posted December 8, 2009 I am using an HP Z3100 (current model is Z3200) 24" roll printer, 12 ink (4 blacks), and a clearcoat. Â Since ink is in 130ml containers, cost per ml or print is low. Â My only complaint is that I wish it had a sheet feeder since changing rolls is nuisance. Â However 24 X 36 prints or long panorama's are flawless. It has a built in spectrometer and gens it's own ICC paper profiles, and has worked perfectly, I use it infrequently, and It seems never to lcog it's jets. Â Regards ...
