biglouis Posted November 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have had reason to return my M8 to Solms to have its sensor repaired, having experienced the thin dead line problem. When I dropped the camera off at Leica UK they told me the average fix time was 4 weeks. I took that with a pinch of salt and reconciled myself to a period of several months, based on the time it took to code a lens at Solms and other comments from posters in this forum. True to their word I received a message last week, approximately 4 weeks to the day that the camera was repaired and returned and after electing to have it sent to me on Friday it turned up first thing this morning via Fedex. Not only has the sensor been repaired but Leica checked, cleaned and callibrated the rangefinder, did an 'adjustment of all parts' and cleaned the exterior so it looks shiny and new - all under warranty. Well done Leica! LouisB

Michael-IIIf Posted November 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 30, 2009 ..... all under warranty. Louis, When you say 'all under warranty' do you mean they fixed a broken product under warranty? Which is what I'd expect any manufacturer to do and frankly means this isn't much of a story, albeit nice for you, or do you mean they took an out-of-warranty camera and treated it as if it was still in warranty? Which would be a different kettle of silicon chips - especially to one such as me who owns an out-of-warranty M8. Michael
kdemas Posted November 30, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 30, 2009 Good to hear that Leica not only fixed the problem but gave the camera a mini-cla in the process. I have had similar good experiences with Leica in New Jersey.
