The Church of Our Lady of Carmel at 115 St & Pleasant Ave in East Harlem is the first Italian parish in NYC. Remnants of this bastion of old Italy remain. Chief amoung them are the Church itself, the world famous Rao's and finally Claudio's, a 100 year old barber shop. What a time portal & a day well spent.

Ben, what a series, each and everyone great images in their own right and works perfect in the series, you sure you are not documenting the barbershop for NG.?

Positively love the show where he is showing your 8x10 to the customer. its like a time machine.

Ben, I really respect how you always manages to make your subject honorable and dignified. regardless of where they are in life, you make it clear that the tracks they leave behind in the struggle for life, is in fact dignified and noble. I admire this about your pictures.
