like-a-leica Posted October 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 19, 2009 Well done everybody. I wanted to have another crack at the Barnack, but the lab lost my film, which only just turned up this morning after being missing for two weeks (something about the driver getting lost, or mixing up the bags. Who knows). So, please find attached the foto (colour:eek:) I would have entered if I could have broken into the lab last night before midnight... My votes (very difficult as always): tfreudenberger 3 points rednorris 2 points Octo 1 point Cheers, Andrew Welcome, dear visitor! Don'tknowmuch Posted October 19, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm afraid I didn't see "Nostalgia" in several of the entries (possibly including my own!), even though many are exceptional photographs and I've enjoyed this enormously. My votes: 3 pts Mobi's childhood's end. To me this is a rather darker but nonetheless literally nostalgic image than the title suggests. 2 pts James' 80's moment. Do you, James, really wish for those times again? 1 pt ejd's Golden Syrup (even though I still have Golden Syrup and porridge...) Well done to the winner! I look forward to the next one. Jim. earleygallery Posted October 20, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 20, 2009 Good challenge and a difficult choice. 1st Octo - great piece of street photography 2nd JC Braconi - lovely image and sad story behind it 3rd jruffolo - fun portrait, looks like it was taken in the 60's There were 3 other photos which I also really liked, very difficult! Well done all.

ejd Posted October 21, 2009 Share #13 Posted October 21, 2009 My votes -- a hard choice as ever: 1st place / 3 points tfreudenberger Wirtschaftswunder 2nd place / 2 points jruffolo Matthew 3rd place / 1 point Red Nomis Mothballed Lots of imaginative pictures. But I think 'nostalgia' is a hard thing to capture in a photograph, even though old photographs are automatically nostalgic, bringing back that moment in time frozen way back (didn't Susan Sontag have a lot to say about this?). I've always thought of nostalgia as a wistful or sentimental feeling for something that never actually existed, so doubly hard to capture on film. It's true, Golden Syrup is still with us today, not just a blast from the past, so not really nostalgic, and in fact I ate the porridge with some golden syrup on it after taking the picture, even though it had cooled off a bit by then. It was my actual breakfast. Perhaps next time we could have an easy theme like dogs or churches or something like that -- non-conceptual, concrete. All the best, John

Möbi Posted October 24, 2009 Share #18 Posted October 24, 2009 I understood "Nostalgia" at this time as a desire for forgotten/departed things that I want back sometimes. It doesn´t matter if I love or hate this things. So here are my votes: 1st RedNomis "mothballed" 2st Zebra "Tin Toy Cars" 3st christoph_d "Fading..." regards, Möbi
