Regarding the modern, made in Japan, Zeiss ZM branded lenses for Leica M mount...Some have serial numbers starting with 51 but most appear to have serial numbers starting with 15 - even for the same model lens (eg, 50mm f/2 Planar).I thought I read some explanation for this but I cannot find it any more (and my memory is spotty). I tried asking the mfgr, Cosina but have not received an answer. Does any body know what the different prefixes signify?TiA.

Greetings from lockdown, I just purchased a Zeiss zm 35mm Biogon-C F/2.8. Why? I don't know, I guess I wanted to try a Zeiss zm lens. I do also have a Summilux FLE, and a summicron V1 (Had a summicron ASPH, but never bonded with it). Anyhow, I realized that this lens has 43mm filter threads and was wondering if anyone is using a step-up adapter to 46mm, and if so whether they get vignetting for 1-2 filters? I would normally not hesitate to do this, but I ran into vignetting issues when stepping up from 39mm-46mm on a 50 APO lens (which was disappointing) and wasn't sure how well rangefinder lenses, in general and specific to this Zeiss lens, handle step-up adapters.

Currently I use the Zeiss ZM 50 f/2 Planar and the Zeiss 21 f/4.5 ZM Biogon on my Leica T. Both are great performers on the Leica T. The 50 Planer is fantastic OOC. The 21 Biogon needs PP to deal with the color shifts. I use the Lightroom plugin FlatField for this. After that, the results are stellar imo. Does anyone use the combo Leica T/ Zeiss 35 f/2.8 ZM c-biogon or Zeiss 35 f/2 ZM Biogon? I've read that the 35 f/2.8 mounted on a Sony A7r or NEX5 show some issues in the corners. Does this apply on the Leica T as well?

Time to bid farewell to my Zeiss ZM 50/2 Planar. It's a stellar performer, but my ZM 50/1.5 is too good. And it doesn't make financial sense to possess both. Hence, the planar has to go. Anyone in a similar position? ------- PS: I have put an ad for sale of this lens on Gumtree [uK], anyone interested may visit: Leica Mount Zeiss Zm 50mm f2 planar B& W Uv and hood Oxford Digital cameras 2nd hand digital cameras for sale London
