  2. I have been trying Lightroom Mobile on and off but there was always something missing (either in the product or my understanding). However, I think it is complete and useable today. The FAQ answers more questions than I cover here https://helpx.adobe.com/mobile-apps/help/lightroom-mobile-faq.html but it seems to be out of date with the current version of the software. For example it says: Lightroom for mobile does not support direct raw file import using the Camera Connection Kit or Wi-Fi. Not sure what they mean by "direct". I am only dealing with DNG files. You can start sorting, flagging and editing your DNGs on an iPad and carry on where you left off when you get to your laptop or desktop. What you need: An iPad (there is an android version) An Apple camera connection kit A Leica camera with SD card or USB socket An Adobe Creative Cloud subscription Lightroom Mobile app on the iPad Lightroom on a laptop or desktop I use the latest releases of the software, IOS 8.4, OS X 10.10.4, Lightroom CC 2015.1, Adobe Lightroom for iPad 9 July 2015. My Creative Cloud subscription comes as part of the Creative Cloud Photography Plan about 12€ per month. Note that if you let your subscription lapse then you have read-only access to your pictures (if they are already synced to your desktop); you don't loose them. What you do: Go out and enjoy yourself taking photographs (I shoot DNG only) with your iPad and camera connection kit in your bag. Stop for a break. In Lightroom Mobile (LRM) create a new collection and set it to automatically add from camera roll. Plug the camera or SD card into the camera connection kit. Import the pictures into Photos. Wait. The loading process is quite slow. What you will have in Photos is a bunch of pictures marked RAW at thumbnail quality only. Open the LRM app, it will start importing the pictures from Photos. Also slow. What you will have in LRM are your pictures in high quality. You can delete them, flag them, grade them, crop them, adjust them, apply presets, make them available on a web site. When you get home, your pictures will be available in Lightroom on your desktop or laptop - if you had network connectivity. Otherwise they will start to synchronise when the iPad and computer are on the net. What you get in Lightroom library module: There will be a collection under "From Lr Mobile" with your pictures. Any that you remove from LRM will be removed from this collection. Under Catalog there will be a container "All Synced Photographs" with your pictures (including any that you "removed" from LRM; they are not removed from this set). These are synced two-way with the versions on the iPad - any changes made on either device will be reproduced on the other. The files are stored in an Adobe container in the file system called ~/Pictures/Lightroom/Mobile Downloads.lrdata (~ is your users home folder). This is rather big as each DNG in it is about 30MB. If you prefer to keep all your photographs in one place (e.g. on an external hard disc) then you can simply drag and drop the pictures in Lightroom (either from the All Synced Photographs container, or the collection under "From Lr Mobile") to a folder in the Folders area. This will physically move the data from "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" to a separate file on your hard disc. This new file remains synchronised with your iPad. Tidying your iPad: After the pictures have been imported into LRM, you can delete them from Photos. After the pictures appear on your desktop, you can delete them from LRM but these are "Smart Previews" of about 2MB so aren't taking up much space. It's not clear what path the DNG files take to get from Photos to a file on your desktop so there may be a time where you can't tidy the iPad. Note you can only sync mobile with one Lightroom catalogue, so you have to choose which if you use a desktop and a laptop. If you switch sync from desktop to laptop (or change catalogues) then the existing mobile versions are lost so be sure to move them to separate files before switching (it may only be necessary to wait until they are synced). Finally, here is a picture processed on the iPad using the Creative preset called Split Tone. No other processing has been done so don't fall out of your seat if you see dust spots! I think this is a feasible and pleasant way to work on short holidays or days out; certainly beats carrying a laptop. What have I missed? What is your opinion?
  3. Dear all, I am wondering how to optimize my workflow since I got the M10M. Right now, I have a - not so satisfactory - workflow with my SL / CL : I download some pictures (JPG) via Leica Fotos to my iPad Pro to share the best shots quickly after quick tweaking, and then (sometimes a very looong time later) download the whole SD card content (DNG) to my iMac and process them through LR 6 (and Tonality CK for B&W). I like the results, but it is long and somewhat tiresome, all the more so LR is a bit slow on my Mac. And work is done almost twice for the best pictures. I find my processing is easier with the M10M, than my former M(240), as (my opinion after a short time using it) I get BW results I like quite quickly on LR, and even with Photos on the iPad. So I am thinking about rationalising and getting complementary workflows with my Mac and my iPad, ie not doing things twice : downloading DNG pictures on the iPad and downloading the rest later through the computer, and join everything in the same catalogue. I could use a HDD/SSD with the iPad to copy the pictures : I don't really need/want to stock pictures on the cloud. It seems the paying iPad Fotos app is designed for such things, and I am thinking about it as results with the M10M seem to be easier to get (though I find abnormal Leica dare to ask for a paying app...) Has anybody tried the solution, and tell if he is satisfied with the results ? Or do you have another / better workflow ? thanks for your inputs on your optimal workflow on your M10M ! Didier
  4. Hey, I would love to upgrade my data management workflow, and I'm looking for some expert help. First of all, I don't know anything about NAS and how they work. Neither FTP, servers, etc. I just would love to find a simple-ready solution (hopefully, it's possible). So far, I have "all my life data" in two (6+10TB) G-Technology thunderbolts drives in Raid 0. Plus DropBox. In my G-drives I have EVERYTHING; in my Dropbox, everything but all raws. Easy. I worked this way since 2000, and I have to say I'm happy and I can always find everything I want, I'm organized. But I know I can do better. Let me explain to you where the issue is. My DropBox has 2TB data, while my G-Drives have the same 2TB Dropbox + 4TB WORK files, so far so good. The only thing I can't do without messing up with some files is keeping the G-drives automatically updated. Every time I have new jobs to back up, they go all in the G-drives (C1 catalogs, jpegs, raws, and miscellaneous). But my Dropbox it's not synced with my G-drives. So, every week, when I launch my G-drive1, I update the Dropbox folders manually. This is good enough for me, until a very few times, I messed it up 😞 No big deal. But I'm sure I can do better; I just don't know-how. When the new job is backed up, my Carbon Copy Cloner automatically clones all the info from G-drive1 to G-drive2. So, I have two clones of EVERYTHING backups, just in case. Plus everything online on DropBox (except the raws). Did you understand? I hope it's not so messy. 🙂 My idea was to buy a new desktop hard drive, maybe 12TB, but more like a NAS solution. In addition to all my backups, I would love to have another one with EVERYTHING I have (so far, it's 6/7 TB). FWIS, a NAS is like a desktop hard drive, permanently ON and connected with an ethernet cable to the network. And I can access my files everywhere online, right? Pro and cons? I just need a simple automatic solution. Maybe, I can make it easier. I could only put WORK in my G-drives and have a new small NAS drive dedicated backup of my iMac and Dropbox (which is the same). Does it make sense? 🤔 What do you suggest? Any tip or advice that can change my life? Thank you in advance for your help
  5. For every +/- 100 images shot digitally there is also one film exposed on my cameras. Do you have a specific workflow combining analog and digital?
  6. Hi Leicalings! We have had the DLUX5 for a very long time, and DLUX4 before. Both amazingly good cameras. Shooting pictures is a breeze, the raw is rich and we have sorted out a good workflow. We have a small problem: we have started shooting videos in AVCHD. Technically and qualitatively, the results are good. On the other hand, we cannot make sense of the way the camera archives the videos on the card, and apparently the numbering resets when you change or format the card which is a problem for people who use archiving software, like us. Anyone who can explain exactly: 1) how does the archiving system work? why so complicated and structured? 2) is there a way to have sequential PROGRESSIVE numbering for the videos? 3) how do you archive? what workflow do you use? Regards
  7. Greetings Folks, I shall be doing an online seminar on my workflow on November 30th; hope you can join me :-) Online Workflow Seminar | Photo This & That Cheers, Edmond
"Dienst" empfängt *keine Eingabe* in *Aperture*" 3. Ausgewählte Bilder anfordern (Kategorie "Fotos", Programm Aperture) 4. Quartz Komposition Filter anwenden (aus Kategorie "Fotos"): Bild invertieren 5. Fotos importieren (Kategorie "Fotos", Programm Aperture) Der Workflow ist erreichbar unter: Aperture->Dienste. Er exportiert ausgewählte Bilder, invertiert diese und importiert sie zurück. Leider ist der Filter nicht aus Aperture selbst anzuwählen - das vielleicht ab Version 3.0.

  10. Iv'e been playing around with the S2 on and off since December and finally got to update my page on the Leica S2. Will get some more details and images up in the following weeks. I don't come from the medium format world, but from dSLR though I mostly use M9 these days. So read it with that viewpoint in mind. And feel free to come with suggestions, comments and ideas. leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - Leica S2 and Leica S2-P 37.5 MP medium format dSLR in 35mm format size - The Steinway of cameras?
