Well, quite possible. Not here though. Climate change has made itself felt here by us in the form of severe drought and extreme temperatures. Our daytime temps have been exceeding 100F (40C) for weeks now already... Rain is a distant memory with less than half an inch since March this year. Here is what is left of the garden. I have also included an image of the thermometer to show our daily temp range. This was taken earlier today. We'll still get to 111F (44C) today. Thanks for looking... Andreas M8 / 90mm Macro-Elmar

Hi Guys, We had our first 4x4 vasbyt ("Bight Tightly" is the direct translation from Afrikaans) for this year here in Windhoek. Here is one of the vehicles busy climbing a 70 degree incline over rocks. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome. Andreas M8, 50mm Summicron, f/2.8, 1/45 sec, ISO 160

Hi Guys, We had one of our big social events here in Windhoek today. The annual Windhoek Carnival Procession ("Umzug" in German). Being a former German Colony, we still hold a huge amount of German traditions and customs very high. As Namibians we are proud of our heritage and it is one of the very few countries in Africa, if not the world, where people of all races live together in peace and harmony, where there is respect for each other and understanding. We are after all Namibians Enjoy the series, thank you for looking and taking the time to see more of our country. All comments welcome. Hi Guys, Went for a walk around Avis dam, here in Windhoek, this morning. The one great thing about Namibia is that you can be less than a mile out of town and feel like you are alone on the world. Spotted this dangerous resident in the tree's. #1, M8, 50mm Cron, f/2.8, 1/2000 Sec, ISO 160. Decided that this was to close for comfort and switched to my trusty 135mm Tele-Elmar. #2, M8, 135mm Tele-Elmar, f/4.0, 1/750 Sec, ISO 160. Thanks for looking, all comment welcome. Andreas

Hi Guys, These used to be the water purification works at the Avis Dam in Windhoek, Namibia. This dam was built in the late 1920's to supply water to the city. Over the years the dam has been replaced with more reliable water sources and has become a family favorite to spend sometime going for a walk or to do some fishing. #1 M8, 50mm Cron, f/5.6, 1/2000 Sec, ISO 160 #2 M8, 50mm Cron, f/2.0, 1/6000 Sec, ISO 160 Thanks for looking, all comments welcome. Hi guys, Went out today to get some images. About 140km (85 miles) from Windhoek, we have the Swakop Port Dam. Since we have been having a lot of rain here, this dam is overflowing. The dam wall is about 36 meters (110 feet) high and about 300 meters (1000 feet) long. Here are some of the images. Hi Guys, We have the Klein Windhoek River that runs through the city. Over the last couple of weeks we had extreme amounts of rain and flash flooding. Today we had about 1 hour notice that the river was coming down in flood. Here are some images as the events unfolded. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.
