  1. Hallo Forum! Enjoy - in English: http://mennigmann.com/photo/2016/01/d-lux-old-school-bw-photography-settings-guide/ Gruß, Marc

  4. here are juxtapositions. I was fascinated by the silky texture of the petals and the charming blossoms. All with Olympus OMD EM 5 + Nocticron
  5. These days are cool and wet. sometimes in the evening there is a short moment of lovely light between two rainshowers. Olympus OMD EM 5 with Nocticron
  6. my neighbour friend visits her horses daily and this time I came along with my gear: Canon 5D MKII with summicron R 50 mm and Olympus OMD EM5 with Nocticron. It was as exciting as well as touching to watch the change in behaviour of the horses on their pasture from the very first approach entering there as a stranger and being accepted when leaving after several hours. I did expect one had to be quick which was not wrong but you have all the time whence they know you. I think they also enjoyed being entertained. So here are a few of my first attempt of this new subject. OMD+Nocticron 42.5/1.2 OMD+Nocticron 42.5/ 1.2 OMD+Nocticron 42.5/ 1.2 MKII+Cron 50mm MKII+Cron 50 mm
  7. Everywhere these bushes are distributing their fragrance. Olympus EM5 with Elmarit R 60 mm
  8. mild temperatures brought forward all blosoms and all greenery forward and everything is 4 weeks earl this year. So to explore the countryside and forests is pleasant. Difficult light for exposures is most tricky because of the bright sky and much stray light. Therefore I used a combination of filters. In this case graded ND filter + polarisation filter on Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 28 mm
  9. one of our garden beauties. Peonies are having their peak time now. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 60 mm macro
  10. this was a most difficult attempt to frame this subject on a windy evening in our garden. My Canon 5D MKII was mounted with the Elmarit R 60 mm macro plus an extension tube. Well the whole procedure kept me busy for a while.
  11. these days are long and even at 7-8 p.m. one has nice shimmering light reflection on flowers. I wanted to know whether the lens wold be able to capture the fine texture and separate the monochrome colors Olympus EM5 with Pana Leica Nocticron 42.4/ 1.2
  12. My friend has a small garden, in a perfect shelter from all atrocities of cold and nasty blowing winds. With a tripod I could not reach down to these small blossoms ithout trampling on small hedges. So nothing else helped but kneeling down, shoot handheld and placing a reflector to give some light from a hazy, almost overcast morning sky. All with Olympus OMD EM5 + R 60 mm macro Elmarit.
  13. Our city is going to celebrate its 800 years anniversary. Everywhere in the city in public greenery there can be seen these colors of our city. The Botanical Garden is paying its respect unfolding its magnificence in tulip arrangement. On this rainy saturday there were very few visitors and so I enjoyed, cameras in plastic bags, on on tripod, the other one handheld. Wo can tell the difference of sensor size, the lenses are the real treasures. Olympus OMD EM5 with Elmarit R 60 mm macro, handheld Canon 5 MKII with Elmarit R 180 mm, tripod
  14. this is also from my series of Botanical Garden where one can get light in some corners after 6 p.m. Olympus OMD EM 5 with Elmarit R 90 mm
  15. Finally summer is back but with a sort of strange mix of warm temperatures, overcast sky and a small thunderstorm always menacing. Our garden is my daily refuge to exercise for relaxation. Canon 5D MKII with Summicron R 50 mm +Elpro Achromat lens

  17. as the weather was very nasty last weekend with non-stop rain and cold temperature at 6 ° Celsius I wanted to discover something for the MKII and its mounted Elmarit 90. Here is the first one of a series of our garden flowers Thanks for viewing!
  18. yesterday after a period of cold days and heavy rainshowers in the evening rain stopped and I packed my stuff for an excursion to our local Botanical Garden. There was nobody else and I could enjoy a peaceful soft light undisturbed. It was almost dusk and wth the help of a monopod the Elmarit 90 mounted on the MKII did it. Thanks for stopping by.
  19. hi, the color saturation option (black & white option) is only available in the snapshot mode? as soon as i leave this mode i cannot access to this option anymore. am i missing a point? i dont feel free setting up my camera functions as i want

    Baryt question

Hi I have been using ADOX MCC 110 for all my prints since I got back into analogue, because this is basically the closest (if not the same) to the AGFA paper I used back in the days. I'm happy with the results, but would like to hear your view/advice on: -Is there any paper on the market that provides darker blacks and whither whites combined in one paper ? -Or is it more dependent on developers and downstream chemicals (I used Ilford suite) ? Thanks for your input. Regards NdV
  21. I have newly purchased the Leica D-Lux 5. I used to have a passion for photography before my 'real life' swept that all away. So back to the here and now. I take images of gadgetry for blogs mainly mobile phones and accessories and have thus far used the inbuilt mobile smartphone cameras for this purpose and used the same for mobile phone functions and personal social events. The photo's and videos are not up to the standard I would wish them to be and I am really unhappy with the shots and videos that I do manage to take. So, I have purchased the Leica D-Lux 5 with this in mind and to re-visit my passion for photography. My personal photography consists of architecture and scenary/horizons etc rather than portrait photography. However, I have always been interested in Black and White photography particularly portrait and this is something I would enjoy learning more about. I am not looking to become a professional photographer but just to learn and use the capabilities of my camera for work, enjoyment and pleasure and to expand my basic knowledge. Being a newbie to the size and weight of the camera and the fact it costs so much (in respect of my finances), I am almost scared to hold it for fear of dropping it. But, on the other hand I want it to be easy, quick, versatile and minimal in its use and transportation - therefore I do not want to get a handgrip and the view-finder is something I am interested in purchasing at a later time. The original Leica leather case is far too bulky for my needs and the neck-strap I also find an annoyance. I guess I will eventually find a way to hold the camera in a position that is comfortable. I have ordered Alexander White's book on "Photographer's Guide to the Leica D-Lux 5: Getting the Most from Leica's Compact Digital Camera". Is there any advice you would give me to help in pursuit of my goals? Oops, I forgot to mention, LightRoom 3 comes free with the D-Lux 5. I was contemplating selling it to off-set the cost difference in comparison to the Panasonic Lux 5. However, I am wondering as to whether I will regret selling it in a few months once I am on a learning curve. I have downloaded the trial LightRoom 3 to try but I do not think I will have much opportunity to get the full benefits of the 30 day trial in between studies etc.
  22. on my wlak through the forest saw something shining and whne approaching I found these mushrooms hanging on a fallen tree trunk. There is a cobweb also there and I think its proprietor is hiding behind the mushroom at ther bottom. I only saw this on the PC during processing. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit macro 60 mm + Leica Apo2x converter
  23. The first cherry trees are blossoming. This one was in our Botanical Garden. There was a last hazed sun disappearing behind the hill and this bit of light I gave back into the blossom with a reflector Olympus EM5 with Elmarit 90 mm. Since it was a bit windy and speed had to be 1/250 sec. so, the other parameters were quite fixed then.
  24. this is such a mild winter that one can go to the forest and take pictures of mushrooms even. This colony was settled on a fallen huge beech tree trunk. There were many of these tiny little mini mushrooms with their little furry bodies crouched and huddled together. Olympus OMD EM5 with Elmarit R 60 mm macro.
  25. here is another one of my first trip to the zoo with the Elmarit 180mm. The goose was asleep but still, attentive what might be going on there. Thanks for looking.
