  1. Early Morning Light & Mist. Reno Nv. M-P240 Safari + 28mm Elmarit ASPH
  2. @ Yosemite (Photography Hour) D-Lux4 5.1mm f/8 1/40 Pattern AP
  3. Since the tripod was occupied by my Canon 5D MKIII the Leica Q had to show its potential. All shots were handheld only. Hong Kong, The Peak f 8 - 1/60 - ISO 100
  4. Prague, View from the Strahov Monastry Leica Q, pano stitched from 7 pictures
  5. Church towers are best to get a panroamic view on the cities. Here we climbed the tower of the church adjacent to the cathedral. The churches all over are constructed with brick stones and are with their gothic style quite dark and gloomy. We could were not very much enthusiastic about them but it is worthwhile yet to climb the towers where possible. Unfortunately the sight was very limited because we had this rainy weather with humid grey sky. The Leica Q did an impeccable job and could even get the dark stones as well as the sky without any significant losses.
  6. Yesterday evening had a promising light. I saw one big cloud towering over the city and sunshine should provide an interesting evening glow. So I snatched my Leica Q. All shades of blue, magenta and green could be captured and all shadows could be opened: amazing and a pleasure to shoot with.
  7. When visiting Prague one should not miss the church of St. Niklas on the Mala Strana, below the Hradcin. The church is a jewel in terms of interior decaration. All the interior is being designed by I. Dientzenhofer, one of the most famous artists of his craft. One has to pay a small entry fee but what you get to see is beyond imagination. The viewer may enjoy the illumination. For the photographer this is an advantage because there is more light but it is a difficulty because the quality of light is bad in terms of color cast and front light. To avoid this you have to turn but then have to face a bright light from the windows. Tripods are generally being banned so all shots are handheld. The tower is worthwhile being climbed. It is very narrow but the view from aove is very recommendable and really lovely. Olympus EM 5 with Summilux 15 mm. The first one is a panorama being stitched out of 4 pictures
  8. From the album: Prague

  9. recently we visited the city of Prague for a few days. Now I am sitting over hundreds of files to be processed. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is an amazing place for its hundreds of historic buildings, many of the Juvenile style and Art Deco or middle ages, renaissance and whatsoever. Light was gorgeous there being reflected by bright painted buildings which gave the light a soft golden quality. - But here for a start some morning and nightscapes. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit 28 mm view from Malá Strana over the Ultava river Olympus EM5 with Nocticron Charles' Bridge view from Malà Strana at 6:00 a.m. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit 28 mm view from Malá Strana with Charles' Briges on the left Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit 28 mm view from Malà Strana X1, view to Hracin with Cathedral and palace
  10. I have used an M(240) with success for 10 months in conventional rangefinder mode with several lenses and only today tried for the first time to use an R lens with the LV mode. Lens was the 180/3.4 APO which seemed to perform satisfactorily for a few minutes until the LCD showed horizontal lines of mostly magenta color and increasing in number from 1 or 2 up to many over a period of a few minutes. Lens used with an R/M adapter. Minolta EVF attached or not made no difference. Turning camera off/on made no difference. Few hours after that I tried using LV to check rangefinder focus accuracy of much loved 50/2.8 Elmar M. Same horizontal stripes without EVF attached. Stripes appear in both DNG and JPG files. Stripes never appear without LV turned on. But RF focus on inner edge of frame of picture spot on so the LV is indeed handy for that test. Is this a known problem? With an easy solution? Will try to attach photos. Had to reduce size but problem should show. 293 No banding at turn on of camera with 180mm. 303 Few stripes after few minutes 304 Example of many stripes soon after that 309 Check of rangefinder focus on inner edge of frame with 50mm In case I have to send it in to Leica and might not be back in US until after 1 year from purchase is up, would they accept notice of problem now but permit delayed return shipment of camera?? Thanks, Harry
  11. Since my MKII was mounted with the Zeiss Distagon 18 mm I can only post here my impressions with the X1. We spent a few hours on top of the Rockefeller Center and being busy with 2 cameras being pushed around by a milling crowd the X1 served as backup.
