I have a new V-Lux 114. It doesn't zoom beyond 75 mm manually or with the zoom lever. Do I have a camera function set improperly that limits zoom?

This is my first post here, and I'm still learning the terrain of the forum a bit. I'm a new owner of the V-Lux and I'm wondering if anyone has any good experiences with wired or wireless remotes for the Typ 114. I'm aware that the DMW-RSL1 will work, just curious what to hear what other options have been tried. Thanks.

I am a beginner when it comes to digital but have some limited experience with 35mm SLR cameras. My question is - which camera is better for a virtual beginner in this field? The D-Lux 4 sounds great but a lot of what I have read indicates that to get great pictures you need to know a lot about the treatment of the photos using photoshop, aperture or similar (neither of which I have). Does anyone use the pics without treating them a lot? I work in the film industry where everything is beginning to go digital so am keen to get a really good digital stills camera which can grow with me over the next year or 2 but still go on holiday and take snapshots.

dpreview has posted an interview with Panasonic, with comments on Micro-4/3rds technology and some other things. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0903/09031901panasonicinterview.asp One interesting snippet: "Q. So when you're designing a lens now you're designing it partly optically and partly digitally?" "A. Yes. Of course we work closely with the lens engineers. But Leica doesn't allow us to use digital corrections, so that's why there are no Leica lenses for the Micro G system. " Also: "Q. So the FZ50 [basis for the Leica V-Lux] is now discontinued? "A. Yes, it will be shortly. But sometime we'd like to come back to this area."
