  1. Hi guys, Recently I bought a new Leica M-E (typ240)and it's basically an M240. And a few days ago, when I tried to do some continuous shootings (the shutter not being hold all the way, but rapidly pressing the shutter when the screen was black and the red light was flashing), I found out that among a series of photos I shot at the same scene, there was one that was a bit underexposured (you can obviously tell the difference between that one and others), and this kind of issue happened a few times when they were all ISO, Shutter speed Auto, and the aperture was fixed. After noticing that, I started to do some continuous shootings of over 10 photos to testify it, and there was even one black frame, but others were fine, and judging from the exposure parameter, there was absolutely no possibility that one could be a black frame. When I got back home, I did a few more rounds of continuous shootings, and I even tried to make ISO, Shutter speed and aperture all fixed, and Underexposure issue happened again. The firmware is the latest one (2.0.6.0). So I'm wondering if you guys have had the same issue? Is it normal? And how to deal with it?
  2. Hi All, I'm struggling to find this information anywhere on the internet and hoping someone may be able to chime in. I have a Leica M6 (#168xxxx) and have a meter that is underexposing by 1 to 1 1/2 stops. I have confirmed this in 3 ways: 1) I've metered a gray card with an external meter and it differs from my M6 meter 2) I've metered a gray card with a Contax G2 meter and again, it differs from my M6 meter 3) all the photos I get back from the lab are consistently underexposed. I shoot 400 speed film and set the camera's ASA to 200 to let another stop light in and this fixes the problem. I'm curious if anyone knows if there is an adjustment that can be made to the meter so that I don't have to compensate this way forever. I had new light shields installed by DAG in July because of a light leak issue and the camera was apparently also checked for accurate shutter speeds, rangefinder and meter. I've emailed him again but haven't heard back in 3 days. Hoping someone else might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks! mike
  3. Hello everyone, I am posting my first message on this forum because I have a question/issue concerning my brand new Leica Q2 I bought last week. I used the camera just once shooting in RAW, auto white balance and all the other default factory settings. Everything is fine and perfect under normal light conditions. However when I am inside and I underexpose a photo (with low ISO settings- 400 ISO more or less) purple colors appear in the shadows. If I open the RAW file on my computer and in lightroom, these purple shadows remain. I tried to change the white balance on the camera etc. but it does not change anything. It is really weird as the conditions are not extreme, the photo is slightly underexposed and the settings used are totally normal. You can find at this link 2 photo samples : you can see purple on the desk and furniture on the photo L1000288. On the photo L1000282 you can see purple on the grey wall Does anyone have an idea ? Thanks a lot for your help Wissam
  4. Just an FYI..... I find my M240 when set to Classic and Center Weighted shooting in the vertical position exposes +1/3 to +2/3 to the right. And when in the Horizontal position it exposes -1/3 to -2/3 to the left underexposed. While reviewing 150 images from a street shoot it was my first time using Lightroom 5 in the library mode, I thought I would correct all of the exposures with the exposure panel. As I'm going thru the exposures I notice that only a few images are perfect exposure and 90% of the horizontal images are under exposed by -1/3 to -2/3 of a stop (to the left). So I'm going thru clicking on the right arrow to increase the exposure and every time I get to some vertically shot images they are too bright HUH! All of the vertical images except for one are overexposed by +1/3-+2/3 of a stop. So you ask did I check for the Red exposure dot and verify every image was metered correctly for the most part but that would not result in the majority of consistency's I now see. I also see that with the background being mostly white or a lot of the background white the image tends to overexpose from the meter reading when shooting with my 50 lux but when I'm shooting with my 21mm its still underexposed by -1/3 to -2/3 of a stop.
  5. Dear experienced Leica users, having purchased a very well shaped Leica R4 with Summicron 90mm f2 I shot 3 rolls of negative films (color, b/w) and had to learn that the camera has a clear tendency to underexpose by approx 1 - 1,5 exposure values no matter what program setting has been chosen. Does anybody share this and could comment on this experience? Would you consider to have it serviced by a licensed Leica dealer? Thanks for some advice, Peter
