q2 Q2 long exposure thumbwheel not working?
Johnclare369 posted a topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
Hi All I recently upgraded to the Q2 from the Q. Love it. I've been shooting Leica about three years, I also have M10 and various lenses so I'm quite used to Leica. However, I've just come across a problem with my Q2 and would appreciate advice. Here's the situation: On the Q2 I wanted to shoot longer than 1 second exposure, so I turned the exposure wheel to 1+, then tried to increase exposure to, say 20 seconds by turning the thumbwheel, as I used to on the original Q. I am aware of the limitations re long exposures and high ISO so I set the ISO manually to 100. The camera won't go beyond 1s exposure, however much I turn the wheel. Turning the wheel the other way it only offers me 0.6 seconds. To check it, I then set the exposure to auto (A), and went into a dark room. Again, the camera will not set the exposure to above 1s. It may be a fault with my camera, or I may be doing something wrong. Any thoughts? JC -
Good day. I am a recent convert to the SL2 system. I'm finding the Mode Selection function (P A S M) of the rear thumb wheel is problematic, particularly when shooting images in colder weather with gloves on. I've reviewed the owners documentation and spoken to my Leica store but there appears to be no option to either reprogram or disable this function. Does anyone know of a solution that will allow for reprograming or disabling this? I note that on the thumb wheel on the M11 this is a fully programable option. Many thanks for any suggestions. Best, Ken Dono

Hi folks, Wondering if anyone on here has ever experienced a physically sticky thumbwheel on the back of their M9. I bought my camera used and didn't notice it's stickiness much when I tested it out, but I feel like I notice it all the time now during real world use. The wheel spins downward with my thumb just fine, but going up it's not as smooth and sometimes stick. Then needs a little more oomph to get around. It doesn't however affect the controls on the LCD screen. I've tried cleaning out the grooves to see if there was any dust which helped a bit, but the stickiness comes back. Does anyone know if Leica lubricates this part of the camera at all? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Braniff

I've had my M8 for about 2 years. Last week the operation of the thumbwheel became intermittant. Sometimes I turn it and nothing happens, and other times I turn it and it will cause a jump through 4 or 5 menu items. It is essentially useless. Anyone have any suggestions? If there is a simple fix or a way to remove it and clean whatever mechanism is underneath it, I would much rather do that than send it in for repair. Tom in California
