Hello All, Recently my beloved M4 was stolen in Washington State. My M4 is Silver and the serial number is 1190748. Please keep a lookout on local classifieds if you see a Leica M4 show up for sale. It was my first Leica and I desperately want this back. Thank you.

Hello, on 19 March my black Leica M9 was stolen on a Spain trip: Leica M9, black, serial: 3803931 Voigtländer Nokton 35 f1.4, serial: 8160292 The M9 had approx. 3500-4000 shutter actuations at that time and still looked like new, except for some minor details: There are 2 or 3 small but deep sratches (brass shows) at the bottom plate, along the edges. If anyone gets offered this camera and/or lens, or comes across a suspicious offer (ridiculously cheap, no original box, no guarantee card with serial, no charger, seller won't answer when asked for the serial, etc.) please report to me and/or the police. Advice as to where I can keep looking for my M9 is very welcome too. I know chances are very little that i will get back my M9 some day but the market for this camera is rather small, so I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can in my situation. Actually, the situation is pretty sad for me... The M9 was bought less than 3 weeks before the theft (and has been dreamt of ever since it's release), and it was stolen on the very same day of my arrival in Spain. I wasn't being particularly careless and I wasn't even up to take any photo on that evening. I just took the M9 along because there were no lockers at my place. The thieves distracted me with questions and stole the camera literally from under my ass. I was chasing them but they were on bikes, so I had no chance. All my savings from the past years are in there, not to mention that I lost a lot of photos. As I wanted to thoroughly test the M9 before deciding whether or not I'd keep it (I was nearly sure I would), the equipment had not yet been insured. Thinking of the moment when I noticed that my M9 was gone, only seconds after the theft, still gives me goose skin. With regard to my stressed nerves I would like to ask you not to overly dwell upon the insurance subject - it won't undo what has happened anyway. Thank you for all advice! Best, zvatopluk

Greetings Folks, With all these sad reports of forum members having their equipment stolen, I thought I'd post an article I wrote a short while ago with some ideas of how to try and avoid theft: Secure Your Gear | Photo This & That I hope that some may find it useful. Edmond
