  3. I have a rather marvellous 400mm Telyt. It has a male 39mm O.D. thread which is bigger than the standard LTM. The normal way to connect it to an M series camera is to use a 16466 M which provides the matching female thread to a male M bayonet (23mm flange-to-flange), plus a Visoflex I or II which has M-bayonet to M-bayonet to connect to the camera and is 41mm flange-to-flange. The Visoflex houses the reflex mirror plus bits sticking out to set and trigger the mirror. Now that I have an SL, I don't need the Visoflex. It would be nice to replace it with a simple 41mm spacer with M-bayonets on each side. i.e a dummy Visoflex. Does such a thing exist? Alternatively I could replace both the Visoflex and the16466 with a 64mm spacer, 39mm female thread to male M-bayonet. Does such a thing exist? The third alternative is disassemble the Visoflex. I haven't tried that. If I do, what problems might I face?
  4. I have interest in this first version of the Telyt 40cm 5, serial numbers and pictures. I have 5 in my collection. Thank you
  5. A rare sunny period on Tues afternoon, so a walk on the Marlborough Downs was called for M240, APO Tely-M 135mm.
  6. Meine lieben Mit-Leicaner.
  7. I found a Black-tailed Hare ("Jackrabbit") this morning in Yolo County California. Technical stuff: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO-Telyt-R, shoulder stock & monopod. All comments welcome.
  8. Hi All, I am soon set to receive a Modular Telyt-R but it comes without a manual. I would love to get an electronic one, or buy a paper manual; but am really interested on the instructions on how to join the head to the focusing module. I believe it should be easy, but don't want to mess it up when I get it. A second topic is a Series 6 filter. I am wondering what people think about the polarizer and if it is worth trying to buy one. Thanks, Jeremy
  9. Hello, please have a look at these two birding images taken at the beach: 1) An example of "action wildlife photography";) ('follow focus tracking', manually): This sandwich tern / Brandseeschwalbe (Sterna sandvicensis) had lost its prey (a sand eel) in the air, and "stopped" immediately to avoid flying past it. A tenth of a second later, the bird had snapped the fish again. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...crop_luf-b.jpg (please click the link) 2) The turnstones / Steinwälzer (Arenaria interpres) below, a juvenile and an adult, performed a dance at the beach. Both images taken 'hand held' with the sliding-focus Telyt 400/6,8 (at 8), Visoflex2/3, M8, shoulder stock (14188 v.1), and a good strap (14130), both images cropped (distance at least 25 meters in first example, around 4 meters in second example). Best, Telyt2003
  10. A grey heron (Ardea cinerea, Graureiher) posing for me in front of a suited background (out-of-focus water surface with reflections in the evening sun light), patiently waiting for me to finish my shots. Telyt 400/5,6 in Televit, Visoflex 3, M8. Stabilized with the Televit's small shoulder stock (version 1) and a long strap. ISO 640, 1/500 s, f/5,6-8 (6,8), uncropped. Thanks for looking! Telyt2003
  11. Flamingos in a zoo. Slightly cropped. Shot with the Visoflex Telyt 200/4,5 (at aperture of 5,6) combined with the 1,4x Apo-Extender-R, Novoflex Pistock-C for stabilization.
  12. Please have a look at this young Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) showing its new headdress. Photo taken in a zoo with the head (non-dressed) of the Telyt 280/4,8 version 3 (from 1969/70) in the Televit rapid manual focus device (via the Televit-adapter 14138, Visoflex2/3, M8). Aperture was 5,6 or 5,6-8. No IR-cut. Stabilized with the Televit's shoulder stock (v.1). The version 3 of the Telyt 280/4,8, in the Televit, can be focused from infinity to as close as below 2 meters! For additional information on this lens in the Televit, please see here, if interested: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1576037-post5.html Best regards, Telyt2003
25-30 Meter). Das Bild ist daher deutlich beschnitten. Telyt 400/6,8 (sliding focus), Visoflex2 (mit Lupe vom Visoflex3), M8, Schulterstütze 14188 (Version 1), Riemen mit 2 Aufhängungen, Blende 8, ISO 640. Mit freundlichen Grüssen, Telyt2003
  14. Friday morning I spent a few hours at the state fish hatchery at Nimbus Dam, a few minutes from home. The hatchery's water outflow often contains small fish (or portions of fish), a fact not lost on the local birds. A portion of the outflow is let into a settling pond where it eventually makes its way through percolation and direct flow to the American River, a few meters below the hatchery. Many of the local birds consider the settling pond to be a prime feeding area so among some species, the Common Goldeneye among them, 'turf' wars are fought over the best locations. Yesterday two pairs of Goldeneyes plus one bachelor male staked claims to the pond. When a neighboring Goldeneye gets too close to your claimed area, the first level of threat is to lower the head and aim toward the interloper: Both male and female Goldeneyes use this threat posture, but if the neighbor doesn't back off the male will go to level two threat, where he tosses his head back and makes a sound that is best described as a mix of a purr and a soft growl: Note the female of this pair has maintained the level one threat posture. A physical battle often takes place underwater which is out of the range of my camera's design parameters. Once the winner is decided (home court is a big advantage) the loser makes a hasty retreat (next post, too many photos for one post)
  16. It works well. There is anyway some restrictions to consider like picture edges and corners sharpness strong decrease due to full frame sensor optimized for short focal lengths. Züri See - Switzerland - Telyt 6.8/400mm - ISO 800 50% of original -> here
  17. The Oak Titmouse is a member of family Paridae which inludes Chickadees and Tits (I didn't name them, I'm just the messenger!). The Oak Titmouse is primarily a California resident, with a few populations in Baja California to the south and Oregon in the north. The Oak Titmouse, like all Paridae, are the definition of the word kinetic. As its name implies it's preferred habitat is oak woodlands, where they nest in a tree cavity; this morning I found a pair bringing breakfast to the kids: technical stuff: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO + 2x APO-Extender-R. All comments welcome.
  19. A tiny bit of fluff, more voice than flesh & bone: This bird was one of hundreds in the Yolo Bypass wildlife area between Sacramento and Davis. The song is the bird's territorial defense; a highly variable song, a neighboring wren will often repeat specific riffs of his neighbor's song. technical stuff: Leica R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO + 2x APO-Extender-R, shoulder stock & monopod. All comments welcome.
  20. The local Eared Grebes and Horned Grebes have molted into their summer plumage: Eared Grebe Horned Grebe Compare the summer plumage with the basic winter coloration (photos from the last two winters): Eared Grebe Horned Grebe All photos: R8/DMR, 560mm f/6.8 Telyt. Last photo with shoulder stock and monopod, others with shoulder stock and kayak. All comments welcome.
  21. I've been reading the fiorums for a while and have found some really useful and helpful stuff. This is my first post so here goes.... I have been using my Telyt 4.8/280 on the Lumix G1 with a Visoflex II which is of course unecessary from the mirror point of view but needed to get the correct distance from the focal plane. Does anyone know of an adapter/spacer the same length as the Visoflex that I can use to make the whole outfit a bit less unwieldy? I must say that the G1 performance with the Leica lenses is not up to my M8 but it is great as a back-up and also for action shots with the telephoto.
