12. Hello all, this is my first post! Recently I got a deal at my local camera store on a chrome Summi 35/2 v1. They were rather ignorant of the value of the lens, and I didn't pay too much for it. However, after looking up the going rate for these lenses online, I realized that I could sell this lens and turn a profit to buy some other equipment. It's not in mint condition - there are some extremely faint scratches on the rear element only visible in harsh direct light (invisible in normal lighting conditions). The chassis has a few minor scratches too, but nothing visible unless you're looking really close. There's no haze, but there is some minor dust (also invisible in normal light), and the focusing is the slightest bit stiffer close to infinity (hardly noticeable). Nothing that ought to influence IQ. Infinity lock works. Yet while this isn't in pristine collector's condition, it does fetch a few premiums - it was made in Germany as opposed to Canada, doesn't have the M3 goggles, includes the original filter and hood, and has a convertible flange/mount. The convertible mount is something I just figured out today; the lens was apparently factory-fitted with an LTM>M adapter via a set-screw. But you can unscrew it, and volia, it's LTM. Rather strange, but these were evidently in production concurrently with the normal M-mount versions. Thanks
13. I am trying to find and verify info on this lens (however only on regular available lenses, so not pre-production types). Here are my questions with some facts: - did the serialnumber for the first lens start at 1630501? - did production run from 1958 until 1968 or 1969? I seem to find only lenses that match numberings in 1968; the canada made lens with highest number I found was 2285635, and a Wetzlar with number 22762xx (in my own collection) - both regular lenses without goggles. - how many of this first type summicron were presumably produced (Canadian and Wetzlar)? Any figures on the black version? If possible please make any distiction in the figures between the regular lens and the one with goggles for the M3. - in the first years the lenses seem to have been fitted with a large red dot, in later years with a tiny dot. In which year did they change the dot? - were different coating applied to the lenses over the production years? - does someone know of a leaflet or other type of media by which this lens was introduced into the market in 1958 or before or in later years, perhaps at the photokina in those years? - Is there a technical drawing available of the (8) lenselements? - Did this lens evolve from the Summaron 2.8 or has it a totally different design? - Is the lens a socalled Mandler design? Any other/additional info is very welcome. thanks in advance
14. At the Haags Gemeentemuseum I saw these marvelous RGB patterns made by the American artist Sol Lewitt. I matched the color correction and did a little bit of exposure compensation. They are at the opposite each other in the hall. Enjoy albert
