I love my Lux5 but my Paul C. Buff trigger for top of my Leica wont fire studio strobes. Anyone else know why or what setti9ng I need to do this? Thanks in advance. Major project coming up.

I would like to know if anobody tried to use T in studio, including flash or lights?

I have added M240 + APO 50mm setup in my studio photography workflow (in parallel with Hasselblad H4D-50 which is my main camera) and all I can say is I’m amazed with the quality and resolution of this lens. Contrast, sharpness and clarity on the glass and dynamic range of M240 sensor is very impressive! I have shot this photo with M240 + APO 50mm + Broncolor Para 88 with grid (main light) + Broncolor Grafit A4 pack + Elinchrom Octa Light Bank (fill light). Post process with Photoshop and Lightroom. I was recently told by a Canon photographer that M cameras are "dumb because you can't use them in the studio." I was in the studio the next day. So I've finally hit that wall, after being brought up on film, sticking to my guns and spending the past few years attempting to perfect my craft I'm starting to wonder where I'm going with it. I'm a uni student so I'm also at that stage where I'm worrying about jobs and what I'm going to do with my life and due to that I've hit a crossroad. I've spent my teenage years dreaming of becoming a photographer, I studied it at college and now I'm studying it at university. I'm fully aware its a pretty unstable and risky route to take, devoting academic years to art when most people are getting their degrees in maths and law. Having a degree's not that special nowadays as it is never mind a degree in photography. So after mulling over the uncertainty of my future I've come to the stage where I'm starting to question film, as much as I love and enjoy it, is it really worth carrying on? Surely if I'm thinking of a job I should be following my peers and be spending all the time I have in the studio finding my feet with digital? It's film I love and its surrealism that drives me, but is that going to get me a job? Probably not, its digital that brings home the bacon. I've come across enough money to be considering new equipment so should I really be looking at R8s or should I be buying something like a Nikon D7000 and be focusing on studio work? Sorry about that big chunk of hazy thoughts and uncertainty, I feel as though I need some outside input so anything any of you have to add would really mean a lot!

Hallo zusammen, gibt es hier im Forum jemanden, der Erfahrungen mit einer Schraubleica in einem Fotostudio hat? Ich habe meine IIf mit einem IR-Blitzauslöser verbunden, um damit die Blitzköpfe zu steuern, leider haben diese entweder zu früh oder zu spät ausgelöst - jedenfalls ist der ganze Film schwarz :-( Gibt es Erfahrungswerte hinsichtlich Belichtungszeit und Einstellung der Kontaktscheibe? Die alte Bedienungsanleitung gibt hier für mich nicht viel her. Vielen Dank schon mal und schöne Grüße Ingo

This may be an outlandish idea, but perhaps not. Is anyone using their M9 to use with a set of studio strobes for studio / location work? I think it may be limited a bit by the slow flash sync time and lack of tethering, but is it still feasible?

Anyone has been using an M8 in studio environment? I mean, M8 with Pocket Wizards and monolights? I would assume it should not be any different than any dSLR, but I am curious those out there who have been using it, what is your configuration? I have been working with dSLRs in studio, but want to know if there is any difference you have experienced. Thanks Miklos

Also, ich nachdem sich gerade etwas neues bei Leica ankündigt (nach dem Bild aus der E-Mail von Leica vermute ich, es handelt sich um die SL2)... ...und ich (wie vermutlich alle Leica-Kunden) schon zur Präsentation eingeladen wurde, stehe ich eventuell bald vor einer weitreichenden Entscheidung. Zur Erklärung, warum ich diesen Thread öffne: Da ich zunehmend mit Studiofotografie "konfrontiert" bin, überlege ich schon seit ein paar Monaten, mir für diesen Zweck (und auch für Fotografie an bestimmten Locations, wo ich sowieso mit Beleuchtung, Softboxen etc. aufkreuzen muss) eine Mittelformatkamera zulegen soll. Ich wünsche mir neben der höheren Auflösung/Sensorleistung (mit der Möglichkeit für große Prints; ich habe auch die Q2, die aber natürlich auf 28mm beschränkt ist) auch die Möglichkeit, dem Kunden sofort ein Ergebnis unter die Nase zu halten. Erst gestern (CD-Cover-Shooting für eine Klassik-CD in einem kleinen Barocksaal) hatte ich das Problem, dass ich mit der Leica Fotos App auf dem (geliehenen - leichtsinnig, ich weiß) iPad (IOS-Version 13.xy) die M10 nicht hinzufügen konnte und ich somit nach jeder Serie mit der M10 zum Kunden gelaufen bin, um ihm das Ergebnis auf einem Mini-Kameradsiplay zu zeigen - nicht gerade professionell. Ich hätte auch die Canon 5D III (Tethering per Kabel direkt zu Capture One auf meinem Surface Pro) dabei gehabt, aber der Kunde wollte, dass die Fotos mit dem Summilux gemacht werden, bei maximaler Freistellung des Motivs. Der Kunde ist natürlich König... Zurück zu meiner Entscheidung. Ich liebäugle seit ein paar Monaten mit der Fujifilm GFX 50s, für die es momentan auch noch eine Cashback-Aktion gibt. Ich habe aber mit der GFX keinerlei Erfahrung, vor allem weiß ich aber nicht, ob ich mit den verfügbaren Fujinon-Objektiven leistungsmäßig genauso zufrieden sein werde, viele gibt es da noch nicht (z.B. hat das Fujifilm GF 63mm, welches 50mm Vollformat entspricht eine Anfangsblende von "nur 2,8" anstatt 1,4 beim Summulix 50mm - das müsste man aber vermutlich noch umrechnen, um einen exakten Blendenvergleich machen zu können). Ich bin nun aber vor ein paar Jahren aus gutem Grund von Canon zu Leica gewechselt, weil ich nicht mehr diese Flut von Knöpfen wollte, seitdem habe ich wieder richtig Spaß am Fotografieren. Diese Überlegung, zusammen mit der Ankündigung, dass bald die SL2 (Vollformat mit 47 Megapixeln?) da ist, gepaart mit der Möglichkeit, meine M-Objektive an der SL2 verwenden zu können, lassen mich nun vor dieser Entscheiung stehen. Preislich gleicht sich das wohl in etwa aus, zumal ich bei der (deutlich günstigeren GFX 50s) noch Objektive dazukaufen müsste, bei der SL aber zunächst meine M-Objektive verwenden kann, bevor ich mir nach und nach die SL-AF-Objektive (eventuell auch gebraucht) kaufe. Ich weiß, dass ich hier Äpfel (Vollformat ca. 47 MP) mit Birnen (Mittelformat, 51,4 MP) vergleichen möchte. Für diese Art der Fotografie (mit optimaler Beleuchtung, d.h. ich werde nur selten mit hohen ISO-Zahlen fotografieren) könnte (aber da bin ich mir mangels Mittelformat-Erfahrung nicht sicher) aber die SL2 eine Alternative zum Mittelformat sein, oder was meint ihr? Hat jemand Erfahrung mit der GFX 50s und vor allem mit passenden Objektiven? Vermutlich wird es ein paar Tage dauern, bis Details zur SL2 bekannt werden und ein besserer Vergleich zur GFX 50s möglich ist - für Eure Meinungen, Erfahrungen danke ich Euch im Voraus.
