I wander around my home city of Glasgow a fair bit. I always have either my Leica M Monochrom mk1, or an analogue M loaded with black and white film with me. I think that finding interesting photographs on the street is pretty much the hardest type of photography. But when you do get something, it's very rewarding. What does anyone else think/find? A few pictures I've got around Glasgow with my M cameras..

Hi, I have purchased a new lens Elmarit M 28mm it is on the way.Till now I had only 50mm Summicron which I use on my M6 Classic. I need advices about what focus distance you set for zone focusing. This is the chart, I mainly will need 1.5 - infinity or to 17 m.From the chart I thing when I’m on f/8 3mm focus gives me best focus space. What you preset on f/5.6 f/4 f/2.8? At what distance usually your subjects are, I’m talking about street photography and film only!

Hey, everyone, Sorry that my first post to the forum is me asking for help, but I’ve just purchased a SF24D flash, and was planning on using it handheld off camera connected by a cord, a la Bruce Gilden. I know I need a cable with pc sync connecter for my M4. As for a hot shoe adapter that can be attached to the flash, connected to the cable, and can trigger the flash, I’m having difficulties finding an adapter that will work. the original adapter I was planning on using won’t work, if anybody knows of a solution, or something that they’ve used before. I’d be really grateful!

What do we photograph on the streets (in color)?
Joe Cunningham posted a topic in Street Photography
I'm new here and while attempting to make my first post I was surprised to find that the main thread for street photos contains black and white photographs, exclusively (the thread is even tagged "mono"), and the street photo I want to share is a color shot, so instead of sheepishly going away, I've started this topic. I don't know if there is value in keeping the color street photography separate from the monochrome, I'll let the moderators decide that. But currently the only thread of any importance in the entire street photography forum containing color pictures that I could find are all photos taken at beaches, so I hope others find this topic as useful and necessary as I do and post in it. I'll go first. Woman on LSD, Nicollet Mall, downtown Minneapolis, 2018 (Leica M10 and Summilux 35mm f/1.4 ASPH) She was obviously high, which is why I followed her, and after I made this shot I asked her with a smile if she was tripping. "Yeah, tripping balls!" she answered and then did a pirouette and dashed off into Target before I could say another word. -
Had a wonderful 8 days shared between Marrakesch and Essaouira. Some street captures of the overall ambiance with a very helpful SEM 21. If they look at me it is not because of the camera but because we were foreigners and could not pass unnoticed.

Reminded me of people like Saul Leiter or maybe Ernst Hass, don’t know but I like it. Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron f2. Processed in LR Classic using a Kodachrome 25 preset. Gerry

Hi all, a brief announcement that I’ve just finished work on my second self-published book of photographs. Captured with the M Typ 262 and 28mm Elmarit-M (version IV) during a week’s travels through the North of Italy, the book presents 32 black and white photographs ranging in subject matter from people to places both natural and constructed. I’m really proud of how this project has turned out. The book is printed on thick 170gsm uncoated stock, with the covers being an even heavier 300gsm. The size is somewhere between compact to standard at A5 (210x148mm), which gives each print enough room to breathe without feeling cramped. Also exciting is that, working with a professional printer who works at reasonable prices, I’ve been able to price the book at just £15 + shipping. For those who are curious to know a little more, I’ve written a bit more on the back-story on my blog. You can also watch a trailer that I produced for the book here. Finally, if you’d like to pick up a copy, please slide on over to my online shop to do so. Thanks kindly for your interest, and happy shooting!

I have just posted a new blog post at https://gerrywalden.wordpress.com/2016/09/05/just-one-roll-of-film/ which sabot a roll of film I shot in 2003 using a Leica M6 and (I think) a Summicron f2. It features 9 images in mono of a Mela in Southampton. Please take a look. Gerry

Whilst walking through Lido Di Jesolo after a day out over summer I just so happened to be in the right place at the right time. The light streamed through a gap in the buildings diffusing the fountains with a beautiful golden light. Just at the moment a young girl decided to cool off. Hey, I went to Vietnam this summer and shot a series that was among other featured on the leica camera blog. You can check that out here: http://blog.leica-camera.com/2016/09/25/lounging-in-vietnam/ But of course I shot a lot more than just those few images in the series! So I still had a ton of photos from my trip to Vietnam buried in Lightroom. I haven’t posted any of them anywhere because I couldn’t really figure out how to arrange them in a story that would make any sense. Also most of these photos are a tad too touristy for my taste. But since I still really like them and can’t stand the thought of never showing them I decided to split them up into a couple of smaller sets and post them on my blog - of course fully aware that tumblr is pretty much dead these days. But hey, any place is better than the depths of my hard drive. All photo are taken with a Leica M6 and the 35mm Summicron IV on Kodak Portra 160 or 400. You can find some of the photo already on my blog and I will keep updating over the next few days. Blog: http://lifeon35.tumblr.com/
