Hi, I have Leica M6 Classic and I have only one lens - Summicron M 50 (V5). Nifty fifty is my preferable focal length and this particular lens is perfect for me.Despite of this I feel the need to have another wider lens for some particular occasions - when walk in stretch streets and want to catch wider space, buildings, but mainly would give a try it for street phototherapy of people. Is there somebody else who started with 50mm lens and bought as second lens 28mm? I wrote here, because I’m interested mainly the feedback from analog users.

Hi! I have a Leica M-P typ 240, 35mm and 50mm lenses. I was wondering if it would be good for me to buy the new Q3 for street photography and using when I hike or go to wildilife places. Do you think is a good idea? Or maybe another bout lenses would be fine? Thanks a lot! Alexandre

Taken in my home town. I found the Agfa quite grainy in Adox FX39 so will change to Microphen as a trial. The grain is no major problem as I can reduce it in Lightroom but it would be if I wanted to go larger than maybe 25x20cm. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - Agfa APX400 Gerry

I am still editing images taken on my visits to Paris. This is the latest to be chosen. Taken on Tri-X in 1999 using an M6 with a 50mm Summicron f2 lens. You can see my 'Streets of Paris' portfolio at https://gwpics.myportfolio.com/the-streets-of-paris I am hoping to get a book together in the relatively near future, so comments are welcome. Gerry

Another from the last film I processed. Taken just standing and shooting on the street, so a 'grab' shot. This is a crop from the full frame. I must confess that I quite like the look of the film even though it is clearly not the 'original' Agfa product and is a bit grainy so has to be worked on Maybe a change in developer would calm it down. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Agfa APX400 processed in Adox FX39ii. Gerry

Normally I shoot candidly, but because I wanted to get in tight and had the 35mm lens on, this time I asked for permission - no problem. image was cropped to about 50%. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Ilford HP5+. 1/125 @ f11. Adox FX-39 II dev. Gerry

Another from my latest film back from the lab. This was taken on the M7 prior to getting rid of it (big mistake!) using the 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Film is Kodak T-Max400 processed by Harman Labs who do a pretty good job. No idea of exposure (sorry) but was available light only. I particularly love the face of the little child in the background. I took this charming image candidly at my favourite café. It is not my normal practice to talk to my subjects, but if there are children involved I normally introduce myself and explain what I have done and ask for permission to use the image. I don't recall ever having been refused, although it is slightly more awkward shooting film as opposed to digital because you cannot show the parent the image. This young mother was quite happy with what I had done. Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 using Kodak T-Max 400 and only available light. 1/125 @ f2.8

Back in 2000 I was invited to give a guest lecture at Nasau Community College on Long Island, New York. I took a number of photographs of the students while waiting to start, and have been revisiting them now. Leica M6 + 50mm Summicron f2. Available light and handheld but have no record of the camera settings. Kodak T400CN film which I had processed locally to avoid problems with x-ray machines at the airport on the way back (those were the days!) One basic error in the photo, that is my Billingham bag in the background (oops!) Gerry

I was in two minds over this - I nearly dumped it but I liked its 'filmic' qualities so much I decided to keep it, and I now think it is one of the best images I have taken for a long time. To me it has the wonderful atmosphere of uprated Tri-X. Agree or don't agree, I don't really care, I just LOVE it - and wasn't it HC-B who said “Sharpness is a bourgeois concept". Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 @ 1250 iso using available light only. 1/15th @ f5.6. Gerry

A woman waiting to welcome the first client at the opening of a yoga class (Southampton, England) - verbal permission given. I spotted this as I was walking down the street and asked for permission to photograph her (very unusual for me to ask!). I had the 24mm Elmarit-M f2.8 ASPH fitted, so I shot with what I had. It is that time of year again when one of the local universities holds its graduation ceremony. I captured this scene of a couple of students making their way to the ceremony in the obligatory mortarboard and gown. Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2. 1/2000 f3.4 @ 320iso Gerry

It was great to finally be able to get out to my favourite cafe yesterday and drink coffee with a friend I haven't seen since Christmas. I have been having problems with my knee and have found walking almost impossible but thankfully I am just using one stick now. This is one image I grabbed whilst sat outside the cafe in the beautiful sunshine Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit f2.5 Gerry
