  1. Hi, I have Leica M6 Classic and I have only one lens - Summicron M 50 (V5). Nifty fifty is my preferable focal length and this particular lens is perfect for me.Despite of this I feel the need to have another wider lens for some particular occasions - when walk in stretch streets and want to catch wider space, buildings, but mainly would give a try it for street phototherapy of people. Is there somebody else who started with 50mm lens and bought as second lens 28mm? I wrote here, because I’m interested mainly the feedback from analog users.
  2. Hi! I have a Leica M-P typ 240, 35mm and 50mm lenses. I was wondering if it would be good for me to buy the new Q3 for street photography and using when I hike or go to wildilife places. Do you think is a good idea? Or maybe another bout lenses would be fine? Thanks a lot! Alexandre

  4. Taken in my home town. I found the Agfa quite grainy in Adox FX39 so will change to Microphen as a trial. The grain is no major problem as I can reduce it in Lightroom but it would be if I wanted to go larger than maybe 25x20cm. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - Agfa APX400 Gerry
  5. I am still editing images taken on my visits to Paris. This is the latest to be chosen. Taken on Tri-X in 1999 using an M6 with a 50mm Summicron f2 lens. You can see my 'Streets of Paris' portfolio at https://gwpics.myportfolio.com/the-streets-of-paris I am hoping to get a book together in the relatively near future, so comments are welcome. Gerry
  6. Taken in Barcelona on La Rambla. Leica M9 with Zeiss 50mm Sonnar f1.5 @ 400iso. Gerry

  9. Whilst sat at the traffic lights today I noticed this guy and managed to shoot it very quickly through the closed window of my car. First time I have tried this. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit f2.5 and 320 iso. Gerry

  12. Hello, I have recently posted a video and article State of Decay—The story behind the photoproject by Alejandro Cegarra. Alejandro took 3rd place in this year World Press Photo contest and since some of the photos were taken with Leica M 240 I thought I would also share it here. The project itself is interesting as it documents the crisis in Venezuela in the span of 5 years. You can read more about it on the blog. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. Thank you! Martin Blog post: https://allaboutstreetphotography.com/blog/2019/12/17/state-of-decaythe-story-behind-the-photoproject-by-alejandro-cegarra Video:
  13. Been shooting for over 40 years and almost 21 with Street Photography. It's the person behind the camera that it's all about. You can shoot with any lens or any camera system for great results. The right lens is what you hear about most, and that is just a crock. No lens is the be all one and only for the streets. 35 mm bores me to death and that is what is recommended most. Is it great for street, yes, but so is a 50, 60, 90, or whatever you're using, if done right.I'm going to give everyone who is looking here a couple tips that have helped me most over the years. 1- I find the most interesting people portraits on the streets, talk to them and then ask if I can photograph them. Sometimes I give them a few bucks depending on the situation. If they say no, which happens about 20 percent of the time, I don't ask for my money back. If they say yes, I get into the distance for best results and compose the area around them. Lot of them will pose at first, but thats not for me. I will tell them not to pose and say that i'm going to get a few shots while we talk. That is when the true emotions and expressions happen. You have to catch the right one at the right time. After a while, they will forget about the camera. Start the conversation light and then build it up for the right emotions.2- Your images will always be more powerful if you have another story within the story. That means something interesting happening in the background. Not always necessary, but can really make a good image into a stellar image. Street photography is the hardest to get good at. You have to become quick and efficient with your camera, find a system that works for you. . Best of luckMerry Christmas!
  14. I have been in a rut lately so have posted very little. However I did shoot this a few days ago because I liked the combination of colours. I hope you think the effort was worthwhile! Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2 @400iso. Gerry
  15. This image forms part of my further adventures into colour street photography after shooting black and white for 60+ years. It is a learning curve involving a different way of seeing, but one which I am enjoying (even if I do not get it right!) Gerry
  16. From a trip to France in 2015. Leica M9 + Zeiss 50mm Sonnar f1.5 Gerry
  17. Continuing my colour street work in Southampton today: Leica M240 + 50mm Zeiss Sonnar f1.5 Hope you like it! Gerry
  18. It was the annual Gay pride event in my home town of Southampton, and there was the usual plethora of street vendors including the balloon sellers. This guy only sold unicorn belloons, and made an interesting subject. This is a very colourful event and it would have been easy to be overwhelmed by the colour, but I made the decision to shoot it b&w: Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2 Gerry
  19. From a film returned from the lab today. Leica M4-P + 35mm Summarit f2.5. Kodak T-Max 400. Gerry
  20. Taken on Leica M4-P and 35mm Summicron f2.5 lens using Kodak T-Max 400 film. No metering done. Film was lab processed. Gerry
  21. I am a massive Leica fan. I have a faithful Q and love it, I also have an SL with a 24-90mm zoom. I find the weight too much and am wrestling with whether to trade the Q and the 24-90mm for the 35mm lens. I love Street and unplanned photography. Any help with the decision making would be really appreciated. Keeping both is not really an option. Thank you
